teacher tips
For the gumball machine, provide bingo dabbers or circle
dot stickers as well as a white paper plate. Have students
focus on counting out ten gumballs at a time and then
switch colors to do the next ten so it doesn’t become too
overwhelming. Encourage students to count aloud to ten as
they stamp. I like to do this as a whole class so little ones
don’t get confused on which set of ten they are on. Give
each child a counting by tens gumball number line to cross
off one set of tens as they count them out. When all 100
gumballs have been added to the paper plate, attach the
gumball machine base to the paper plate and display.

P.S. I like to let students chew actual gum while doing this
activity. They think it’s the best thing that ever happened!
;)

For the counting to 100 chart, use the differentiated chart

that works best with your group.

teacher tips
For more challenge, have students write in each number on
their own.
For slightly less challenge, have students fill in the missing
numbers.
For the least challenge, have students trace the numerals.
