responsibilities and opportunities of women and men, and girls and boys”. Therefore, we should never allow the sex with which we were born to determine the freedom, rights or resources that we may have throughout our lives.
2- Employment opportunities
We constantly face gender inequality in such things
as jobs or careers. Men’s and women’s jobs differ greatly as womens are often seen in low-productivity and low-paying jobs, not to mention that they seldom possess high power positions. In our society, women normally have fewer job opportunities since many companies prefer to hire men as society still believes the common fallacy of men having a more abundant knowledge, nowadays we are making a change as we accept that the amount of knowledge is not based on our gender but rather on our education. What we aim to achieve by implementing gender equality in job opportunities is for men and women having the same access to equivalent working positions 3- Salaries
We can all wrap up that the main difference between
women and men in the workplace would be the salaries, women tend to have lower salaries whereas men tend to have a higher one, this is a straightforward illustration of what gender inequality looks like in today's society. Currently, we are trying to accomplish for women an men to earn the same amount of money and as time goes by, we are fulfilling these objective.
4- Maternity vs Paternity leave
As soon as we talk about maternity and paternity
leave in Spain, fathers had always had fewer days off than mothers since it was said that the child has a greater need to be around the mother since she is the one who feeds him for a long time but now for practically a year, the mother and father have the same number of days off since both are important people for the son and both take care of him equally. This wants to be headway towards gender equality and care, now both of them have 16 weeks off.
