This Ted Talk was presented by Sir Ken Robinson and is titled “Do Schools Kill

Creativity?” was filmed in February of 2006 in Monterey California. Sir Ken Robinson was a

British author, speaker and advisor on education in the arts to government, non-profits, education

and arts bodies. He was also the director of the Arts in Schools Project and Professor of Arts

Education at the University of Warwick. His audience for this Ted talk was people who believe

that students are struggling in school and cannot be creative in a school setting.

Sir Ken Robinson’s main argument that he is trying to make in his talk is that schools in

this generation are killing creativity of children in primary school and above. In his talk he uses

his personal experiences he has had in the American education system with historical references

and uses different sources to support his argument that schools are killing creativity in children.

The speaker's style in this ted talk is formal but also informal at times. He uses ethos,

logos, and pathos in very effective ways to convey his message. He takes a very smart approach

and uses statistics and historical references to support his argument. This is a very good approach

because it is not all of his personal experiences which could be biased in a way.

I would say that in my opinion this speaker is very fair. He is able to see both sides of the

argument and he is able to present both sides. I think that he did a good job of this and was very

fair in his approach to this Ted talk.
