Narrative Report In The Conduct of Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) Program for National Reading

Month

As a compliance of this year's National Reading Month, Vice President and Education
Secretary Sara Duterte reminded learners that reading enhances imagination, broadens
knowledge, and gives them the ability to see wider possibilities amidst their limitations.

Dagatan National High School also participated to this simultaneous event aiming to develop
the learners’ genuine love for reading. As the school officially announce the month of
November as reading month celebration, students from different grade levels participated in
various school activities like Sabayang Pagbasa, book review, mystery reading, read aloud and a
lot more.

In partnership with stakeholders, selected parents were also advised to do story telling
activities at home together with the learners. The said activities were done to underscore the
importance of developing a passion for reading. This is a great opportunity for the learners to
enhance reading comprehension.

Teachers were also advised to try to make use of interactive reading activities through multi-
media platforms or develop offline e-learning instructions in reading.
