Purpose: Lists the question(s) you are trying to answer.


Introduction: This should be one paragraph that answers all the research questions. It MUST be
written in full sentences in your own words! Research yeast. What is yeast? How does
yeast rise bread? What is the chemical reaction that produces the gases that causes
bread to rise? What does yeast need to live and grow? What does it produce? What kills
yeast?
Hypothesis: “If …then…” statement, written in 3rd person
Materials: All materials listed in a bulleted list, including the amount and size.
Procedure: Clearly lists the steps of the experiment so that someone else can repeat the
experiment (use numbered bullet points).
Includes a labelled diagram of how you will set up the equipment.
Data and Observations:Create a data table to record any quantitative data.
Insert a graph, to visually represent your data.
Qualitative Observations are recorded in words or drawings (can be in point form).

Conclusion: In the form of a statement that answers your purpose. Written in 3rd person.
It refers to the hypothesis (if it was correct, partly correct or incorrect).
List any possible sources of error, and any changes you could make to improve the
experiment.
Makes suggestions for future experiments
Applications: Suggest how the results of this experiment are important in real-life and connect to the
current unit.
