estimate, and state its asymptotic distribution.
Chapter 2
The following paragraph of Core Reading has been added at the end of Section 3.1.
White noise processes are normally defined as having a mean of zero at all
times, that is m (t ) = E [ X t ] = 0 for all values of t . They may be defined in either
discrete or continuous time. In a white noise process with a mean of zero, the
covariance of the process, C (s, t ) = E ÈÎ( X s - m(s ))( X t - m(t )) ˘˚ , is zero for s π t .
Chapter 2

The paragraph of Core Reading set out in Section 1.2 above has been added.

is available from the ActEd website at www.ActEd.co.uk.
The Online Classroom is an exciting new approach to studying for the actuarial exams.
It acts as either a valuable add-on to a face-to-face tutorial or a great alternative to a
tutorial, particularly if you're not based in the UK or near a tutorial venue.
The best way to discover the Online Classroom is to see it in action. You can watch a
sample of the Online Classroom tutorial units on the ActEd website at
www.ActEd.co.uk.
5.4 Marking
You can have your attempts at any of our assignments or mock exams marked by
ActEd. When marking your scripts, we aim to provide specific advice to improve your
chances of success in the exam and to return your scripts as quickly as possible.
For further details on ActEd’s marking services, please refer to the 2014 Student
Brochure, which is available from the ActEd website at www.ActEd.co.uk.
