Research Methodology

The document discusses two studies analyzing training programs and student performance using parametric and non-parametric tests. For the first study on training programs, a t-test showed a significant difference in sales between the two groups. For the second study on student performance, Mann-Whitney U tests found no significant difference between performance in the first and second half of the year.

Assignments 1 & 2
Parametric Test
The Vice president of sales has developed two new training programs for increasing sales effectiveness. There are 20 new
hires in the organization. He has randomly chose 10 people for each training program. After one year he decides to see
the results.

First of all, we will check for the normality

Tests of Normality
Kolmogorov-Smirnova Shapiro-Wilk
Group Statistic df Sig. Statistic df Sig.
Score Group A .208 10 .200* .870 10 .101
Group B .128 10 .200* .981 10 .973
*. This is a lower bound of the true significance.
a. Lilliefors Significance Correction

As the significance value, P is greater than 0.05. we will go for a parametric test.

Alternative hypothesis
There is a significant difference between the sales of the two groups.

Null hypothesis
There is no difference between the sales of the two groups.

Group Statistics
Group N Mean Std. Deviation Std. Error Mean
Sales Group A 10 97.6000 6.02218 1.90438
Group B 10 123.0000 6.11010 1.93218
As the P value is less than 0.05. So, the Alternative hypothesis is accepted.

Non-Parametric Test
A principal wants to compare the student performance for the year in two parts. He wants to compare the performance of the first half and
second half of the year. He recorded the performance in GPA and CGPA from 20 students.

Check the normality first

Tests of Normality
Kolmogorov-Smirnova Shapiro-Wilk
Group Statistic df Sig. Statistic df Sig.
GPA Group A .420 10 <.001 .664 10 <.001
*
Group B .198 10 .200 .926 10 .412
CGPA Group A .324 10 .004 .849 10 .056
*
Group B .210 10 .200 .921 10 .364
*. This is a lower bound of the true significance.
a. Lilliefors Significance Correction

Alternative hypothesis
There is a significant difference between the performance of the two groups.
Null hypothesis
There is no difference between the performance of the two groups.

Descriptive Statistics
Group N Mean Std. Minimu Maximu Percentiles
50th
Deviation m m 25th (Median) 75th
Group GPA 10 1.2690 .46049 .89 2.00 1.0000 1.0000 1.9000
A CGPA 10 1.5680 .72604 .50 2.60 .8850 2.0000 2.0000
Group GPA 10 .8900 .46774 .20 1.80 .5000 1.0000 1.1250
B CGPA 10 1.6640 1.20262 .30 4.00 .8350 1.2500 2.6250

As the P value is greater than 0.05. So, the Null hypothesis is accepted.
