Exercise 1
Exercise 1
Exercises no. 1
Applying Statistical tools
I. Introduction
Statistics is the art and science of answering questions and exploring ideas through
gathering data, describing data, and making generalizations about a population based on a
smaller sample. There are two branches of statistics descriptive statistics, which refers to the
organization, summarization, and display of data, and inferential statistics, which deals with
the samples to conclude a population.
II. Objectives
The student will learn the process of data gathering, data processing, and data
analysis using statistics by the following specific objectives:
1. To know what is systematic sampling method;
2. To learn how to gather data using a systematic sampling technique;
3. To identify the sample within the population;
4. To identify the data types;
5. To determine when to apply grouping on data;
6. To know the level of measurement;
7. To create a frequency distribution;
8. To measure the central tendency, standard deviation, variance, and coefficient
of variations
III. Materials
Data sheet
Calculator/Laptop
Bond paper
IV. Procedure
1. The sampling method to be used for this activity is a systematic sampling method.
The instructor will guide you through the data collection;
2. Identify the Sample and types of data;
3. Compute the levels of measurement, frequency distribution, measures of central
tendency, standard deviation, variance, and coefficient of variation
4. Make a visualization by making an appropriate table and graph presentation for
further data analysis.
5. Discuss the result presented in the table or graph.
VIII. Conclusion
