How to select the Vibration Sensor?

Two of the main parameters for selecting the sensor Vibration range & the Frequency range.

1. Vibration Range : - On the basis of your Machine class (Based on HP/KW and type
of machine), Vibration trend, OEM instructions for the Machine, Trip range.

Eg. :- If machine is running at 4 mm/sec RMS and if it is normal, one may chose 0-20
mm/sec RMS. If TRIP setting 4.1 mm/sec RMS, one may chose 0-10 mm/sec RMS as
Vibration range. For other ranges one may choose according to the trip range of the
machine.

2. Frequency Range (Low Pass – High Pass Filters) :- On the basis of Machine RPM.

Eg. :- If machine is running between 600 to 6000 RPM (90 -95% Industrial machines run
at tis RPM) the same best Frequency Range is 10-1000 Hz
If Machine is running at lower RPM than 600, ne may chose 2 to 1000 Hz as frequency
rage, if machine is running at higher RPM than 6000 one may chose 2 to 2500 Hz or even
higher frequency range.

3. Sensor with 2 PIN MIL Type Connector ( Non- Integral ) :- For Casing & housing of
motor, pump, gearbox one may choose Sensor with 2 PIN MIL Type Connector.

4. Sensor with Integral armored cable (Integral) :- If we want to install the vibration
sensor under water/oil, High Moisture area. One may choose Sensor with Integral
armored cable.
