“LONDON”

London is the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom. The
city stands on the River Thames in the south-east of England, at the head of its
50-mile (80 km) estuary leading to the North Sea. London has been a major
settlement for two millennia, and was originally called Londinium, which was
founded by the Romans.
It is the place dreamed of by all those tourists who want to improve the English
language or learn about British culture.

Inside this tiny city, a wide variety of marvelous places can be enjoyed over and
over. The historical beauty of Queen´s House Greenwich, with this elegant
building, Iñigo Jones wore the Palladian style in England. It is a house
commissioned by King James I for his wife, Anne of Denmark, to complement
the tudor palace of Greenwich. The building now exhibits a series of historical
paintings depicting the history of these Greenwich buildings, as well as portraits
of tudor kings and queens associated with its history. The rooms and galleries
that compose the building are a wonderful setting for several magnificent
collections of maritime art that are preserved in the National Maritime Museum.
The other place is the British Museum. It is certainly an exceptional museum
that holds a little of the cultural history of the whole world. Here you will find
pieces from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Pacific. Highlights
include the Reading Room: one of Karl Marx’s most frequented places, the
large courtyard designed by Norman Foster, and the mummies on display in the
Collection of Ancient Egypt.

One thing that makes London unique is the Abbey Road. Many tourists come
here to take their picture. This zebra crossing is in the London neighbourhood of
Camden, specifically the St. John’s Wood subway stop.
This street became famous because on August 8, 1969, the four members of
The Beatles -Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr-
spent ten minutes crossing this zebra pass for a photo shoot from which the
cover of their album came out.
After a long walk through the beautiful city, tourists will find a wide variety of
entertainment. Visitors will find delicious options in the dining area, which is full
of restaurants and cafes, there you can choose from a variety of exciting dishes.
You can also spend beautiful afternoons in the parks with beautiful flowers, go
to art galleries and free music shows in the open-air.

I am convinced that London is certainly an exceptional place for anyone who

wants to improve the English language or just get to know this beautiful city and
share the warmth of a magical holiday place with their loved ones.
