The Celts lived over 2,000 years ago in Britain, Ireland and parts of France. October 31st
was the end of their year, and people celebrated the day with a festival called "Samhain".
Samhain was the Lord of Death, and the Celts believed that he sent ghosts back to earth
on this day. When Christianity came to these parts of the world, the day was changed to
"All Hallow's Eve" - the day before "All Hallow's Day" or "All Saint's Day".
