Grigory Grabovoy

Grigory Petrovich Grabovoi (Russian: Григо́ рий Петро́ вич Грабово́ й) (born 14 November 1963 in the
region of Shymkent, Kazakhstan) is a Russian Doctor of Mathematics. He claims to be a healer and has
founded what he has described as a system for the "salvation and harmonious development". In 2008, he was
sentenced to 11 years in prison after promising to the mothers of victims of the 2004 Beslan school siege that
he could resurrect their children. He was released early in 2010.

Actions
Grabovoi claims the ability to abolish death, resurrect the dead, cure cancer and AIDS, teleport, and pinpoint
and resolve at distance mechanical and electronic problems on airplanes, space stations, atomic electric power
stations and any other technical constructions. He describes his abilities in his three volume book The Practice
of Control. The Way to Salvation.[1] The stated goals of his teaching, are the transmission of the knowledge
from God to mortals, thus providing benefits ranging from the physical (immortality, the resurrection of the
dead) to the spiritual. As attested to by multiple sources, and as mentioned above, Grabovoi claimed
specifically to the mothers mourning the deaths of the 2004 Beslan school hostage crisis, that he could return
their children to life.[2]

In a March–April 2007 interview to Larisa Bochanova Susanna Dudieva, leader of Mothers of Beslan, stated
that Grabovoi fell victim of a smear campaign which intend to divert attention away from authority's poor
handling of the Beslan hostage-taking.[3] Dudieva named some of the media outlets which had spread false
information, often the opposite of the communications she had conveyed to them. Among these were Vladimir
Vorsobin of Komsomolskaya Pravda, Dmitri Sokolov of Izvestia, Alexey Pimanov of the TV show Man and
Order.

According to Yelena Milashina of Novaya Gazeta, authorities arrested Grabovoi on charges of fraud.[4]
Milashina wrote that the Ostankino department of Prosecutor General of Russia threatened to sue a TV show
Man and Order for incitement of religious hatred.[4] According to Milashina, Evgeny Saurov, who brought
charges against Grabovoi 2 years earlier was prosecuted himself on an unrelated charge. Milashina alleged that
Grabovoy was arrested at the behest of Vladimir Putin.[4]

Grabovoi sued the newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda for 1.2 billion roubles (approximately $50 mln). He
lost in the Savelovsky Court of Moscow.[5]

On 7 July 2008, Tagansky Court in Moscow found Grabovoy guilty of 11 counts of large-scale fraud and
sentenced him to 11 years of imprisonment. According to the court sentence, Grabovoi organized a pyramid
scheme, franchising his "followers" to practice the cult provided that they remit 10% of receipts to
Grabovoi.[6] The court considered alleged receipts from the relatives of deceased people (an average of 40
thousand Russian roubles for resurrection of the dead) as an outward fraud. Relatives saw neither the
resurrected dead nor the money.[7]

Russian advocates, including Mikhail Trepashkin, brought an action to institute criminal proceedings against
Vladimir Putin and President Medvedev in front of the United Nations, the Hague Tribunal, the International
Criminal Court for having effected Grigoriy Grabovoi's criminal prosecution.[8] Grabovoi's early release in
May 2010 was appealed by the regional prosecutor office.[9][10]
