INTRODUCTION

The Adventist Youth Society is one of the departments of the Southern


Sibuyan District Association of Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The department was created to serve, address, and cater the needs of
the youth in physical, social, emotional and above all the spiritual growth. The
A.Y association functions and operates under the direction of the Southern
Sibuyan District Association of Seventh-Day Adventist Church with the
cooperation of its members who in general pulled resources and forces to
administer the department as a whole.

The A.Y association is recognized by the Parents Association the SSD


Association as one of its assets in the ministry of spreading the good news,
truth and in revealing under the providence of our Almighty Savior Jesus
Christ.

The A.Y association actively participates in any of the Church activities


and shares as well the church vision and mission.

As for today, the A.Y association continues to develop its department,


guided by its own vision, mission, goals, objectives and God’s divine will. The
department continues to pray for God’s guidance in leading back the youth to
church.

MISSION

The SSD Adventist Youth Association shall pursue excellence in


training, serving and inviting the youth to become leaders of the society and

be part in the work force of the ministry of Christ and also in the battle field
of truth with imbued high moral values and strong leadership.

VISION

The SSD Adventist Youth Association envisions to produce dynamic


young leaders in school and communities to be part takers of the work which
the Heavenly Father has given to us and be a model to the society where
others may see the character of Jesus Christ.

OBJECTIVES

1. To prepare young people for heaven.

2. To develop among the Adventist Youth a sense of responsibility to


their families, the community, environment, country and to the
church as well to lead a healthy life in guided by Christian Values
and by the Bible, God’s holy word.

3. To encourage the Adventist Youth to be a good service to others,


honest, respectable and good example individuals to the younger
generations and for the generations to come.

CONSTITUTION AND BY LAWS

PREAMBLE
We the young people of the Southern Sibuyan District A.Y Association of the
Seventh-Day Adventist Church, it is our desire to unite our efforts in good service
and to promote unity of purpose, do hereby form this District A.Y Association and
establish constitution to promote friendliness and goodwill among our societies, to
unite efforts for more extensive missionary endeavor to provide varied spiritual,
social, physical and recreational activities and to develop the leadership of our
young people to higher scholastic achievement.

ARTICLE I- Name of Association


Section 1. The name shall be Southern Sibuyan Dstrict Adventist Youth
Association (SSD AY)

ARTICLE II-Membership
Section 1. All bonafide Adventist Youth of the SSD Adventist Youth
Association in every churches either baptized or born in Adventist
Homes.
ARTICLE III-Qualification of Officers
Section 1. He must be of good moral character.
Section 2. He must be physically, mentally and emotionally fit.

ARTICLE IV- Duties and Responsibilities of Members


Section 1. All SSD Adventist Youth members are obliged to perform the
following duties and responsibilities:
a.) Attend all regular and special meetings upon due notice
b.) Pay promptly their attendance on A.Y. programs
c.) Abide the constitution and by-laws of the A.Y Association
d.) Participate activities in all undertakings of the A.Y Association.

ARTICLE V- Duties and Responsibilities of Officers


Section 1. The A.Y President shall execute the policies promulgated

by the body in accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws and the
following:
a.) To preside at the AY Program in every association meeting or may
assign somebody to take his/her place.
Represent the Adventist Youth Association in SSD Association
meetings and other official meetings of the church and
Federation(Fraya).
b.) Relay information with regards to the church, associations or
federation activities the department may be involve.
c.) Lead the department in all its undertakings, decisions and activities
guided by Pastor.
d.) To take charge in the Adventist Youth Visitation Action
Team(AYVAT).
e.) To encourage the youths to improve their God-given
talents and abilities.
f.) To encourage the young people to have church
participation and involvement in community civic action
services.

Section 2. The Vice President:


a.) The General Vice President is the direct
Substitute of the President and preside the meetings and
perform the duties of the President
in case of absence, resignation, death, impeachment or inability
of the latter to lead and assist the President in any works as may
be needed and required.
b.) The Vice President for Internal Affairs Shall attend to the
issues and problems of the society. This includes the
Association administration, financial business, grievances of the
members, and projects. And in-charge of all socials and games of the
association during the association social activities.
c.) The Vice President for External Affairs shall be the
ambassador of the association and president may send him/her
in negotiations to other
district or association/federation of each organization. He/She
shall control and oversee the association members, assist the
President in any works as may be needed and required.

Section 3. The Secretary shall:


a.) Keep the complete records of the council.
b.) Must have the complete list of members
c.) Assist the President in presiding the meeting
d.) The Financial Secretary shall be the A.Y association budgeting
officer, overseer of the financial businesses, financial records for future
reference and financial reports. She shall report the departments financial
status, turn over to the succeeding financial secretary all the money, books
of account and other properties belonging to the A.Y association.
e.) The Information Secretary shall be responsible for making the
minutes of the meeting and passing down information to the other officers
absent in the latter assembly or to the body allowed by the council.
Section 4. A.Y Leader
a.) Thoroughly acquainted with local AY Association plans.
b.) Have a general knowledge of the duties of every officer in the
society, know that each officer understands what is expected of him
and tactfully aid him in his responsibilities.
c.) Preside at A.Y meetings.
d.) Serve as officer of the church on which he represent the AY
society, and attend church board meetings regularly.
e.) Cooperate in every way possible to assist the incoming A.Y leader
to maintain continuity in the activities of the society.
f.) Coordinate and report all plans, programs, and activities to the
information secretary to avoid schedule conflict of association
plans, programs, and activities.
Section 5. The Committee Heads shall perform a specific task given or assigned
to them so as to create the workflow of the association harmoniously.
The head of the:
a.) Communications secretary responsibility involves posting in social-
media sites and bulletins, passing and disseminating information
which the council acknowledges as appropriate for the public, running
communication letters, creation of posters and signage’s.
He/She shall control and oversee all media ministry within the district
and coordinate with the leader of all SSD A.Y Media Ministry.
b.) Religious Affairs secretary shall focus on the spiritual growth of a
being. This includes creating a week of spiritual revival, organizing

crusades, youth church gatherings, the Sabbath school, divine worship


and pathfinder/adventurer events. Under this committee are the
different youth small groups and youth singing groups or choir.
c.) Socio-Cultural secretary involves organizing secular events, its
presentations, the program flow, and its twists and blasts. These
includes blood donation programs, outreach program, parties, social
gatherings, feeding programs and any events which excludes church
services.
d.) Sports and Recreation secretary shall involve in organizing physical
activities for the well-being of the youth. Activities includes sport fest,
association gatherings, and federations games.
e.) Pathfinder and Adventurer Director Responsible for the smooth
operation of the Club and coordination with his/her various committees
in the club.
f.) Committees must associate and help each other.

ARTICLE VI - Adventist Youth Visitation Action Team(AYVAT).

SECTION I – The member of Adventist Youth Visitation Action Team(AYVAT)


shall be:

The SSD Youth President, Vice-President for Internal & External Affairs,
Financial & Information Secretary, Committee Heads, Pathfinder Director.
SECTION II – The AYVAT should paid a visit every church at least once a month
or once a year and conduct an assessment, survey, announcement and other matters
each AYVAT member according to their office.
SECTION III – The President and vice president has the same role, the two(2) vice
president should be his/her assistant and do the activities but the SSD President
should be the one to lead.

ARTICLE VII- Term of Office

Section 1. The executive officers shall render their respective responsibilities for
only one Society Year. The term end at the last day of the year.
Section 2. Officers of the previous year may be re-elected or re-appointed.
Section 3. The remaining days/weeks of the year the outgoing officers and new
elected officers must meet and talks to maintain continuity of the plans, programs
and activities of the society and to turn over to the succeeding officers all the
money, books of account and other properties belonging to the A.Y association.

ARTICLE VIII- Election Procedure


Section 1. The regular election of officers of the SSD Adventist Youth
Association shall be done by voice vote of the members and the election
must be at the end of the year or at fellowship.
Section 2. The nominated individual may decline the office while in voting
process.
Section 3. Only A.Y members, select and choose the new set
of officers given guided by the District Pastor.
Section 4. Committee Heads may be appointed by the new A.Y President of the
incoming year or be elected by the body of the Adventist Youth
Association alone except Pathfinder Club because they have their own
organization election procedure.
Section 5. Before assume the office, new elected officers must take an oath. The
new elected president shall set date, and time for a simple oath ceremony.

ARTICLE IX- Meetings/Quorums


Section 1. Regular meeting of the executive officers atleast once a month
Section 2. General assembly meeting of the SSD Adventist Youth Association
members when the president called a general assembly
Section 3. The meeting will start if there is a quorum of at least 50% of the
members present. The information secretary must check an attendance and say
“ Mr. President, there is a quorums.” If there is a quorum of at least 50% of the
members present.

ARTICLE X- Advisers
Section 1. The adviser of the said association shall be District Pastor.
Section 2. Must attend all the meetings of the council.

Section 3. Must be the one to be consulted first before any activity of the
association may happen.

ARTICLE XI -Youth Advisory Council

Section 1. The Youth Advisory Council is the appointed councils of the


SSD Committee that oversees the entire operation of Youth Ministry. The
members of this committee shall be: SSD President, SYL(3), and Elders(3).
The Youth Advisory Council may choose any other persons deemed
necessary who will serve the interests of the youth of the Southern Sibuyan
District. Their term is endlessly and depends on the SSD President.
Section 2. The District Pastor shall serve as Chairperson of the Youth
Advisory Council.
Section 3. The Youth President may seek advice when he cannot handle his
office but willing to lead the youth or any matters when the youth president
need the youth advisory council.

ARTICLE XII - Policy

The District Pastor and SSD President shall be governed by policies the entire
operation of Youth Ministry.

ARTICLE XIII - FINANCES

SECTION I – Finances

A. There shall be a monthly pledges of (…P50 per Sabbath(every church)….)


and other collections to be made and to be apply.
B. Funds receive by the Youth Association shall be deposited with the Financial
Secretary. But offerings must give the half to RMSDA as SSD AY offerings.
C. The association shall maintain a Petty Cash Fund of P 500.00 to
provide amount on emergency purposes and operational needs of the association.
The Petty Cash Fund should be replenished after the proper
Liquidation Report has been submitted.

SECTION II - WITHDRAWAL

A. The following officers shall be authorized to sign withdraw slip.

1.) President
2.) Vice-President (in case of vacancy, absence, resignation, death, impeachment or assign
by youth president.)
3.) Financial secretary

ARTICLE XIV- Amendments


Section 1. Any of the members of the SSD Adventist Youth Association may
draft a petition for the amendment of the constitution given that the
constitution is not capable of serving the department anymore
or changes to be made.
Section 2. Majority of the vote must be seen in order to draft the new constitution
Section 3. The Executive Committee of A.Y Association shall select 5 members
to draft the new constitution. Before the new constitution present to the body first
seek the youth advisory council, a lawyer or an expert person to review the new
draft constitution and present to the AY General Assembly Meeting and must be
approved by the body and signed by the SSD Youth President, SSD President and
District Pastor.
