Participant Information Sheet

Working Research Title:

From climate resilience to economic brilliance

This research explores how green initiatives can help to stimulate economic growth in developing
countries and how can we encourage foreign investments in those initiatives.

Invitation paragraph

Before you decide to take part in this study it is important for you to understand why the research is
being done and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully and
discuss it with others if you wish. Take time to decide whether you wish to take part.

Purpose of the study

Given the importance of climate change, this project will look at how climate initiatives and enhance
productivity and economic growth in developing and poor countries. Historically, climate change
initiatives have been linked with decrease in economic activity, however this study will research to
cast a positive outlook on climate initiatives in terms of increasing economic activity.

Why have I been chosen?

You have been chosen as you are an expert and/or with significant experience in the climate change
and/or in developing countries economy.

Do I have to take part

Taking part is voluntary and the refusal or withdrawal will involve no penalty or loss, now or in the
future.

What will happen to me if I take part?

Taking part will usually involve one session of 30 min – 1 hour virtual call depending on the
interviewee’s availability. If further questions need to be answered and the interviewee has the time,
another session could be requested with the interviewee’s consent.

What do I have to do?

Audio and/or Video recording, if consented, will not be used or made available for any purposes
other than the research project. These will be destroyed at the end of the study.

Are there possible disadvantages and/or risks in taking part?

What are the possible benefits of taking part?

There is no intended benefit to the participant from taking part in the project other than contributing
key information and insight to what could allow to encourage and speed up green steel transition.

Will my taking part in this project be kept confidential?

All information collected about the participant will be kept strictly confidential where all data will be
identified only by a code, with personal details (only if consented by the participant) kept in a locked
file or secure computer with access only by the immediate research member.

What will happen to the results of the research project?

Results will be written up and marked via the university’s grading system. Results will also be
shared with JBS students. There may be a possibility that the data collected might be used for
additional or subsequent research.

Who is organising and funding the research?

This research is not funded by any organisation / institution.

Ethical review of the study

The project has gone through a self-assessment which is an internal form designed to help identify
potential issues that might need to be mitigated and assess whether you are likely to need an official
Ethics review. No potential issues have been highlighted.
