Steps in an Earthquake
Drill

The Alarm (The school bell ringing intermittently 6 times, 5 seconds each and
then once for 1 minute)- The alarm shall be sounded; the alarm must be audible
from all areas of the compound. Students and staff must be cognizant of the alarm
sound so that they will readily recognize it.

The Response Phase - Students and staff should immediately get under desks or
tables while covering their heads with their hands. They should remain in that
position until the shaking stops.

Evacuation - After the shaking has stopped, all persons on compound should make
their way to the assembly area (The Playfield). Teachers are expected to ensure that
all students under their care arrive at the assembly area in an orderly manner.

Assembly and Head Count - Once all persons make their way to the assembly area;
students shall fall into year group and class lines. The teacher shall give account for
students. Ancillary and Administrative Staff shall be accounted for by the
Department Head. The head count shall be reported to the command post. If there
are missing persons, the command post shall immediately assemble and dispatch a
search and rescue team to look for the missing person/s.

Evaluation - After the entire operation, a review will be conducted. This evaluation
would highlight not only positives but also areas that need improvement.
