Sirena by Gloc-9 who happens to be one of Philippine’s best rappers makes an awesome tune

that goes beyond other Philippine songs addressing problems of gender and society. A song movie that
was produced in 2013, Boldly addressed the problems that transgender’s encounter in a discriminative-
bias global community. This is a clear indication that Gloc-9 is an expert lyricist since he uses mermaid to
refer to those persons with gender-related issues. Such is a very good metaphor on what society
perceives about its enemies in regard to those norms. The artist adopts a narrative approach which,
although raw, is sympathetic in depicting a personal tale of life lived on by the LGBTQ+. “Sirens” position
does not just generate a dialogue about acceptance but also starts to recognize prejudice as a step
towards an even society conversation. The lyrics in the song have been blatant and unredeeming.
Nevertheless, there are some merits and demerits associated with specific people depending with what
is immoral, objectionable or offensive from their societal backgrounds. This means that one of the
important cultural items through which different concerns related to mutual respect and cooperation of
people in the Philippines’ music industry are explored would be ‘SIRENA’ by Gloc-9.

Sirena by Gloc-9 is a song about the life of a gay person (also known as “bakla”), from his early
years through his adolescence ‘til the deathbed of his father. Sirena is a LGBT related song; it’s about
affirmation or stand and forgiving. It is a true story told from the viewpoint of a homosexual man who
identifies as a mermaid. The song describes the character's hard rock lifestyle and struggles they face on
a daily basis as members of the third sex in society. The song describes the emotional and physical
torture he endured in his latter years as a result of being teased about his homosexuality, as well as the
identity crisis phase he displayed during his childhood.
