Creating "crystal-clear" voice post-processing in Adobe Audition using iZotope

RX involves several steps and settings that can vary depending on the specific
recording and desired outcome. Here is a general guideline for processing voice
recordings to achieve a clear and polished result:

1. Import and Prepare Your Audio:

 Start by importing your audio file into Adobe Audition.
2. Basic Cleanup in Adobe Audition:
 Before using iZotope RX, perform some basic cleanup within Adobe
Audition. This may include removing any background noise, clicks, pops,
or other noticeable issues using Audition's native tools.
3. Transfer to iZotope RX:
 After the initial cleanup, export your audio to iZotope RX for further
processing. You can do this by selecting your audio clip in Adobe Audition
and using the "Edit in Adobe Audition" feature to open it in iZotope RX.
4. Noise Reduction:
 In iZotope RX, use the Noise Reduction module to further reduce any
remaining background noise. Adjust the settings to find a balance
between noise reduction and preserving the natural voice quality. Start
with a low reduction strength and gradually increase it until the noise is
minimized without affecting the voice negatively.
5. Spectral Repair:
 Use the Spectral Repair module to address any specific issues like clicks,
pops, or unwanted artifacts in the audio. Zoom in on the waveform and
use the spectral selection tools to target and repair these issues.
6. De-essing:
 If there are sibilance issues (harsh "s" and "sh" sounds), apply a de-esser
in iZotope RX. Adjust the de-essing threshold and frequency range to
tame these sibilant sounds.
7. Equalization (EQ):
 Apply EQ to shape the tonal balance of the voice. Boost the presence
frequencies (around 2 kHz - 5 kHz) to enhance clarity and intelligibility.
Cut any unwanted low-end rumble.
8. Compressor:
 Apply light compression to even out the volume levels and control
dynamic range. Adjust the threshold, ratio, attack, and release settings to
suit the voice recording. Aim for a natural-sounding result.
9. Limiter:
 Use a limiter to ensure the audio doesn't clip or distort during loud
passages. Set the limiter's threshold just below the point where distortion
occurs.
10.Reverb and Effects (If Needed):
 Add reverb or other effects sparingly to enhance the vocal sound, but be
careful not to overdo it. Use reverb settings that match the recording
environment or the desired aesthetic.
11.Export Back to Adobe Audition:
 After processing in iZotope RX, export the audio back to Adobe Audition
for final adjustments, mixing, and any additional effects or editing you
may need.
12.Final Mixing in Adobe Audition:
 In Adobe Audition, you can further adjust levels, add music or
background sounds, and perform any necessary final mixing to achieve
the desired result.

Remember that the ideal settings may vary based on the characteristics of your
specific recording, so it's essential to listen critically and make adjustments as
needed to achieve the best "crystal-clear" result for your voice recording.
