What am I required to do in this assignment?


This workbook complements your university-based teaching by supporting you in learning about dementia care
during practice learning, using reflective activities. The workbook also directs you to a range of online and other
learning resources to support your learning. The workbook has been designed to ensure that you meet Skills for
Health and Skills for Care (2011) Common core principles for supporting people with dementia.

 You are required to assess complex care needs including physically health and spiritual needs
 Plan, implement and evaluate care that reflects care needs and promotes health, autonomy and dignity and
that also recognises and responds to people with terminal illness where appropriate
Take responsibility for safe practice in a range of nursing care skills

 You must submit your completed workbook as part of your summative assessment for your
unit: ‘Integrated nursing care for people experiencing mental health problems with complex needs’ –
NMH014-3.

evidence based practice that compliments the activity you are writing about

Conduct (NMC.,18) in how you write about sensitive issues
 You will understand that by undertaking this assignment Dementia Care Workbook to the best of your ability
you are increasing your knowledge and understanding that may assist caring for a vulnerable older person in
your working life as a Student Nurse and when you qualify as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
