It’s the first time I’m greeting you like this, so it’s
somewhat awkward and a bit embarrassing.
Hello, I’m Young K.
Honestly I don’t really read books, and I don’t
know how or what to write here, so I’ll just write
what comes to mind. First, should we talk about
‘YOUNG ONE (영원)’? At the start, I didn’t have
big plans for Young One. It’s just something that
I started because I thought that I wanted to sing
better.
People might already know, but since this is the
beginning [of the book], I’ll explain it shortly.
When I came out on “King of Masked Singer” a lot
of thoughts and feelings came to me. Going out
there, in front of a lot of people and facing them
with just my voice, I felt really pressured. Even
though I’m a singer.
As someone who’s job is to sing, I was ashamed
to feel scared of singing. So I thought about how I
can improve again, and this project came to mind.
When I was a trainee, I would sing and listen to
other singer’s songs and from there, I would be
influenced and [my skills] would improve, but after
debuting, doing that became a rare opportunity. I
also felt that it was hard to sing one song, alone,
continuously. So I thought of doing covers. I
wanted to know what kind of songs I could sing,
and what strengths and weaknesses I had.

I also didn’t think deeply about the name ‘YOUNG
ONE’. Since before, I thought that there was no
forever, and I was reluctant to promise going on
for forever. But as time passed, my thoughts also
changed, I thought that it was more important to
look at eternity in itself, rather than whether it
exists or not. At some point, I started looking at it
that way. Like what the lyrics says in DAY6’s song
‘Sing Me’, if I sing this song, if someone watches
this video, and if someone remembers me, then I
think that is forever. With the feeling of recording
myself at this time, and wanting this happiness to
last forever, I wanted to call it forever (Young One).
Actually I also thought about the title ‘YOUNGEST’
as it represents me the most and it means that I am
always young, but the pronunciation’s hard and
the meaning of Young One was better, so I decided
to use Young One.
Now let’s slowly look back at myself who was in
Europe.
Let’s go together.
 MILAN

The first city in Europe was Milan. And the song

choice was DAY6’s ‘Ayaya’. During the start of this
project, we faced copyright issues. So I received
a list of songs that I could sing, and thankfully
there were songs that I liked and could sing. But
when we were in Milan, I ran out of songs that
I wanted to sing, from that list. Ah, except for
‘I.F.L.Y.’ but I wasn’t ready to sing that song yet,
so while thinking on what I should do, I decided to
sing a DAY6 song. Among the many songs, the first
reason why I decided to sing ‘Ayaya’ is because it
was a song that the guitarist, Kiyoon, played like
a habit, and because it was a song that I made
alone, so I was able to learn the lyrics and parts
well. There’s no big reason for it. Also, during that
day, the weather was really good and the fountain
looked really pretty, so I also went sightseeing. It’s
not a secret that I put my hands in my pocket while
singing cause it was colder than I expected.

After the filming finished I walked around for a

bit. Since it was the country of coffee, although I
stopped drinking it, I enjoyed a cup of coffee for a
little while. I took a walk while looking at the clear
night sky, the warm yellow light and the various
people. During dinner time, on the way to eat, I
saw Dowoon, and we both jumped in front of the
big Cathedral. Also, the voice of the vocalist who
was singing Lion King’s OST ‘Can You Feel the Love
Tonight’ really left an impression on me.
PA R I S

Since the beginning, there was a place in Paris that

I wanted to film at. Before, when I traveled with
my university friend, our feet brought us to Pont-
Neuf and when I saw that tree, I wanted to go down
there. So we went down, and we saw a place where
we could ride a boat, we just rode the boat and
went around Paris, along the Seine River, while
drinking beer together. In the end, it got pretty
late and we couldn’t go to that tree. But it wasn’t
a waste. Because if we hadn’t seen that tree and
park, then we couldn’t have rode the boat.

Because I’m not the type to plan my trips, I feel like

the small things that I find coincidentally, makes it
more mysterious and meaningful. I remember the
salad I ate before the filming, and the mussels that
I had after. That day, I fell in love with laurel leaves,
so I bought it as soon as I came back [to Korea] but
I don’t think I’ve used them properly yet.

It was a bit hard going back. [Because] It was quite
late and dark already, it was also very traffic and
the driver said that it took him quite some time
to go to where we were. At the end of the twists
and turns, we met with a car and stopped quite a
distance from the hotel. Apparently after that, it
was pretty traffic. And there were a lot of broken
windows, spray [paints] and people shouting
along the streets.
It was a night where I hoped that it was
peaceful and everyone wouldn’t get hurt.
And starting from Paris, we traveled with a tour
bus. There was a person who asked if we wouldn’t
find it uncomfortable to sleep in the bus, but we
all preferred to be in it, since all the immigration, I think the little discoveries we find coincidentally are more
airplane waiting time and moving time, would mysterious and feel more meaningful.

bed and a living room, and at the 1st floor there

played beside them. I also spent the night together
with beer, wine etc.

I thought a lot about where to film in London.
Since we’re already here, I thought that we
should film at a landmark, so we went to a park
where we could clearly see the London Eye. But
the London Eye was bigger than we expected, so
People who were jogging, people who were riding it wasn’t clearly seen whether it was the London
bikes, and people who were just passing by eye or a construction. It was also awkward to put
it on the video.
The hyung who films is a really sensing person,
so we followed what his decision was. Because,
honestly, he is more professional than me in that
field. Not only in videos, but I think he’s like that
in most of his works. I could share my opinions
but because there is a person who is more
professional in that field and has thought about
these things for a longer time, I think it’s more
efficient to just believe and do what they think [is
right]. I also think it’s a courtesy to what they do. I
think it also makes me feel more comfortable that
way. Because I can focus more on what I want to
do, what my duties are and what I’m supposed to
do. And so we moved to another place.
We consulted with the driver and went to the
driver’s recommended place. And he said that it
would look better from across the river. When we
arrived, there was a stoplight between the roads,
and hyung said he’d start filming there.
Ah, starting this day the copyright issue was solved,
so I could sing any song. I thought a lot about what
song I would sing. Since we’re in Europe, I thought
about singing a song from a band that I like. The
problem was the lyrics. If there was a little more
time, I could’ve learned the lyrics. But hyung said
it was ok, just look at the lyrics while singing and
don’t mind the people passing by. So in front of
me, there were people who were jogging, people
who were riding a bike, and there were people
who were just walking by, thanks to them, I think
a more natural video came out.
I heard the members were doing their laundry, so I quickly went there,
it took longer than I expected.
LO N D O N
After the filming finished, I went to eat dinner with
my parents at a steakhouse we went to before, I
bought them a meal as a token of appreciation.
They could’ve rested, and since they were on a
Europe tour, they could’ve gone to the places that
they like, but they gathered [here] because of
me. I thought that I should express my gratitude
to them, as much as I could, during the tour. After
eating, we went around Camden market. But
as soon as we arrived there, the stores started
closing little by little so it was a shame. It made me
want to schedule going there. [Because] I thought
it was a good place to buy gifts.
I heard that the members were doing their laundry,
so I immediately went there too, but it [laundry
time] took longer than I expected. Looking at it like
this makes me realize that a day is quite long.
The next day, I think it was the first time I watched
a live soccer match. Because the athlete Son
Heungmin was playing in that match, it felt more
meaningful. Actually I’m not the type to watch
whole games, but seeing the match and cheering
onsite was really different.
As expected, it’s probably because nothing can win over live [events]
Time passed by quickly. And in order to go to the
next city, we went back to the undersea tunnel.
AMSTERDAM

I have already made up my mind on where to

film in Amsterdam. It was also one of the most
memorable place we visited in the Europe tour last
year. Actually, when traveling, rather than ‘where
and what to see’, I think it’s more important to
consider ‘who and what to do’. No matter if you
visit a very beautiful place, but if you go with a
person who you don’t match with, or you’re not
comfortable with, then it won’t leave a good
memory. On the other hand, if you travel with a
person that matches with you, even if the two of
you get lost in the middle of a mountain in Swiss,
and walk around in the midst of harsh wind and
rains, it would leave you laughing and that’d
become a good memory. Later on, you can even
laugh about the story again.

When traveling, rather than ‘where and what to see’,

I think it’s more important to consider ‘who and what to do’.

The captain of the boat that we rode in

Amsterdam was a very delightful person, so
thanks to him, we had a good time. We were able
to talk enjoyably and comfortably, and he was
also very considerate so we were very thankful.
And this was something I found out when I rode
the boat, it’s that there were a variety of alcohol
on board and that they were all unlimited, it was
really fascinating to me. And usually when riding
a boat, there would be a variety of people mixed
in one, but during that day, we were gonna ride
it alone, so as soon as we arrived at Amsterdam,
I immediately contacted the captain. To ask if I
could meet him again. And so we arranged a time
and we immediately went there.
Because it was a time when the city was having
a festival, we were able to film with the beautiful
night view of Amsterdam. The song choice was
‘Fly Me to the Moon’, I wanted to sing this song. I
don’t remember how I knew of it, but it’s one of the
songs that would sometimes pop up in my mind
and I would hum to. I thought it would be very
romantic to have a video of me singing that song,
along the Amsterdam river. And while getting off
the boat, I thanked the captain and took a selca
with him, then I sent the photo to the university
friend, who I once rode the boat with.
 BERLIN

I wanted to sing ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’

I still haven’t defined what ‘happiness is’.
But everyone knows the feeling of happiness right.
I hope that everyone who makes me happy,
are happy.
in front of the Berlin wall. I haven’t figured out on
which drawing I’ll stand in front of yet, but I saw
that there was a wall with a blue background that
had a picture of a white pigeon flying towards a
yellow circle that looks like the sun, with the words
‘Dawn of Peace’. As soon as I saw it, I thought that I
should sing in front of it.

Looking back, it was fascinating to see how a

pigeon was like taking a form of a human, and
floating on the ground. It was like standing proudly
in front of hope.
Unlike that pigeon, at some point, I didn’t have
much joys and dreams. At least in the real world
that I live in. I think that’s why I prefer watching
fantasy or hero movies that are far from reality. As
I watch those kinds of movies, there’s some kind of
exhilaration that fills me up, making me forget the
problems that I have, for a little while. But in the
real life, I’m actually busy meeting my goals, and I
also thought that it was a waste of time to pour out
my feelings into something that wouldn’t happen.
That’s probably also why I didn’t believe in forever.
But as I said in the start, I realized that it doesn’t
matter if forever exists or not. That’s why I wanted
to sing this song more, because I thought that it’s
more important to want and wish for it. A peaceful
and happy world where everyone has a smile on
their faces, I do wish for that. But, that’s hard right?
I’m doing the things that I can do.
Like the time when we made the Instagram ID
together, I want to make memories of us laughing
and joking around together. I forgot to tell you this,
but I wanted to tell you the story of how the hotel’s
room door broke, so I squatted down in front of the
hotel door for over an hour.
More than that, I realized that in order to make
more people happy, I should be happy. That’s
why I always think a lot about what happiness is,
and how to be happier. I still can’t define what
happiness is. But everyone knows the feeling of
happiness right.
I am happy right now.
I hope that everyone who makes me happy,
are also happy.
BRUSSELS

I believe that you are the one who made this relationship happen.
I couldn’t find you, but you were able to find me.

‘When you love someone, you open up your heart.

When you love someone, you make room,’ this is
the lyrics of the chorus in Lukas Graham’s song
‘Love Someone’. It’s a song that I really like.

It’s a song that came out on 2018 but it has a similar

story to our song ‘When You Love Someone’ that
came out on 2017. Even the English title of that
song is ‘When You Love Someone’. ‘It’s really
fascinating to have overflowing love for someone.’
It’s really fascinating. Honestly, you, who’s reading
this right now and I, how much do we know about
each other? We can’t say that we know everything
about each other, but we can proudly say that we
care about each other, right? Don’t you wish that I
won’t get sick or get sad? I also feel the same way
[to you].

I believe that you were the one who made this

relationship happen. I couldn’t find you, but you
were able to find me. You cheered for me and
showed me how you feel. I think that’s why I could
also open up about how I feel and cheer you on.
Actually ‘When You Love Someone’ also started
with a letter that a My Day sent. So I hope that you
won’t get sick or get sad.

Belgium’s waffle and beer are the best. My beer-

lier friend said that Belgium’s beer was the best, so
I made sure to try it.

As expected of the expected.

 WA R S AW

Wah, the food here was very good, as it matched

my tastebuds better than I expected! I think I’m
lucky to be able to eat a variety of food while
traveling to different countries. I hope everyone
makes sure to visit Polland and try their food here.

First, as soon as we arrived in Warszawa, we filmed

at a place that we saw. That day, my body felt
worse than I thought. I was worried that I couldn’t
sing well and I also couldn’t memorize the lyrics.
That’s why it was sad. But still, I sang. I just tried
singing first. The streets were really pretty, I could
also hear the sound of the saxophone from across
the street, and I really liked that. I was worried that
the sounds would overlap, but after monitoring it,
the saxophone sound was a good distance away,
so it wasn’t recorded. Because of the lyrics, I sang
while looking at my phone.

While doing this project, I was able to overcome

various difficulties, but one of the most difficult
things was learning the lyrics. But because there
was a distinct difference between learning and
thinking about the lyrics while singing and not,
I wanted to learn before singing it. That was the
best that I could do.
I liked the sound of the saxophone that I heard from afar.
And the warm food that I ate after singing was
really tasty.
M O S CO W

In the world that we live in, I think [everything]

depends on how we see it.

Something flustering arose while in Moscow. Last

year, there was a place that we visited, it was a
bright and really beautiful place, so I wanted to
film there. It was like a scene from a fairytale,
it was so entrancing that it really shocked me.
I also experienced skating along the middle of
the place. And so, since it was a place that’s full
of memories, I wanted to take a piece of it, even
just thru a video, but apparently singing wasn’t
allowed in that area. I was surprised when the
police suddenly came. So we immediately gave up
and moved to another area.

The place we arrived at was in front of the Bolshoi

Theater. There were beautiful lights decorated
around the city, so we tried filming while riding
the bus, but it was hard to find the right timing
and it was pretty dark, so it didn’t come out well.
That’s why I sang ‘What a Wonderful World’ in front
of the Bolshoi Theatre. I chose this song because
I thought it would suit Red Square, the place was
really beautiful.
During the time I’m writing this, it’s a really hard
time, because of Corona. After everything passes,
maybe you can read these words again. I hope that
time comes quickly. Even though it’s a life that’s
full of difficulties.
It’s not being stupid, but it’s being nice, it’s not
being selfish, but being certain of one’s own
opinion, it’s not being fussy, but being detailed,
you can look at it like that. It’s not about covering
it up, but I think it depends on the effort of looking
at a different perspective. And I think, thinking
like that makes me feel more comfortable. Rather
than [saying] whether the world’s beautiful or
not, I think it’s more important to believe that
it is beautiful. It’s the same thing as what I said
about forever.

Still, I think the world that we live in depends on

how we look at it. Honestly, it’s very beautiful,
right? During a bright day the clouds are pretty,
and during a rainy day, the raindrops that fall on
the window is also pretty. Aside from the clouds
and the nature, I think humans are the same too.
Depending on our perceptions, people could also
appear differently.
After searching for ‘Bolshoi Theather’ apparently
‘Bolshoi’ is a Russian word that means big.
So I filmed in front of a big theater.
Ah! And Russian dumplings are really delicious. I think it’s more important to believe that the world

 LISBON

The very 1st guest of the Young One project.

Wonpil came out with me. The very 1st guest of the Young One project. Wonpil
came out with me. It was probably the first time
during that tour that he went out, together with
me. I like sightseeing around the place before the
concert, but Wonpil prefers staying inside his hotel
room or going shopping. The people gathered in
DAY6 are really different types of people.

So during the start of the Europe tour, I asked him

to sing with me and he immediately said ‘Okay’.
I’m really thankful for him. For various things.
He’s a friend who’s always overflowing with
consideration and he’d be satisfied if the other
party is happy, even if he has lost something. And
actually he doesn’t think that it’s a loss [for him]. I
think he’s a friend who really practices what I said
in ‘What a Wonderful World’

During the start of this day’s filming, we haven’t

decided on where to film. So I, Wonpil, Kiyoon,
and Gwanghoon hyung went on a walk. Right,
I only thought that it would be nice to film the
moment when the tram passes by. The weather
that day was really good and it was a really good
time to take a walk, so we took a walk for about an
hour and started filming at a place that we liked
the most.

It was also fun filming the moments when the

tram would pass by from time to time. When we’d
have good takes, but the tram doesn’t come out,
we’d film it again. And while we were filming,
there was a person who would suddenly come
between us and sing, dance and do a freestyle
rap. Then person gave us their signature and went
away. It was a really interesting experience. We
somehow finished filming and went down again
to have a meal.

And lastly, that famous egg tart.

I’m proud of everyone.

The last city, Madrid. I wanted to sing one song

among the songs that I’m most familiar with.
Jason Mraz’s ‘I’m Yours’ is one of the songs that I
sing a lot since I was in Canada. Strangely enough,
I can’t forget the lyrics that I learned when I was
young. But now, why can’t I memorize lyrics, no
matter how hard I try? [Ok] I’m just whining. And the last video got uploaded on our, DAY6’s, 5th
birthday September 7. DAY6 is a really interesting
Ah, and I met up and had a meal with a different group. It’s made up of a variety of people with
university friend, who was traveling around the very distinct characteristics. But one thing’s for
world. I wanted to show him the concert that we sure, it’s that they’re really good people. They’re
have with amazing My Days. I’m proud of everyone. not evil. [Because] I’ve been with them for quite
a long time. That’s why I know. There were times
And the place we went to eat dinner at, was the when we clashed, there were also times when our
same place I went to, with my parents. When my opinions clashed, but after all those moments, we
parents travel on a tour, they would always have learned to be considerate and that’s how we’ve

travel freely to different countries. And it makes
me happy to hear that my parents are proud of me.

Anyway, since it was the last city, it somewhat felt There’s a pleasant feeling. That’s why I hope
a bit sad. I remember the various episodes that everyone stays healthy and happy.

Although it’s a project that I didn’t think much
about, I think I was able to learn and feel a lot of
things. Even while writing this ending, I still feel a
little awkward.
I always say this but, I hope I could help you in
your daily life, even if it’s just a little. And I should
talk about the next Young One project, right? I
thought a lot about how I should do the next. Or
whether I should even continue this or not. But
because there were more fun times than hard
times, I decided to continue it.
This time, I will not be singing alone, but I’ll be
singing with a variety of people. I also still don’t
know how it’ll come about. But I think you can
look forward to it. I, and everyone else. And the
ending ment will always be a shame to do.
I hope you would always be healthy and happy.
