Activity 1. Reflective Discussion. We have learned that social stratification exists because
it is believed by some people to really and must exist in the society. Do you agree or disagree?
Justify your position in 3 sentences.
I agree with this statement simply because it is readily observable in our society. It is a
reality that people do fall into different ranks when it comes to income, wealth, and status,
however, this reality does not negate the fact that all people have equal opportunities as well.
People from the lower classes may not find it as easy as those in the upper ones but definitely,
everyone is free to move around the social hierarchy by way of either education, marriage, or
business.
