Duties and Responsibilities of a Student Safety Marshall

The main responsibility of safety marshals is to aid in the orderly and safe
evacuation of buildings during crises. Safety marshals may be in charge of specific
rooms, floors, or structures. The majority of the time, marshals collaborate to
inform learners and teachers who work in the building on safety procedures,
emergency readiness, and response information, as well as to report safety
concerns to the appropriate authorities. During emergencies, marshals give
emergency responders or the Emergency Operations Center quick and accurate
information.
The number of safety marshals in a building is unlimited.

Safety Marshal Duties

The TaguigNHS Emergency Marshal program was created to aid with other
disaster response activities as well as the secure evacuation of school facilities.
Marshals assist the school in maintaining its readiness by reporting safety
concerns to ensure that emergency corridors are kept clear, doors are clear and
functioning, and other issues that may put students and staff in risk during an
emergency are taken care of.
Even though our marshals are crucial to the community's safety, we always
emphasize the Safety Marshal's safety. Nobody shall ever be forced to carry out
any tasks that put them in an unreasonably high risk or dangerous situation.

Evacuation
When an emergency alarm sounds or when emergency personnel issue an
evacuation order, all Safety Marshals are required to leave the facility. The
marshal is supposed to direct others to evacuate while doing so.
In order to make sure everyone is fleeing, marshals may decide to examine
certain locations of their jurisdiction that are known to pose problems during
evacuations, if it is safe to do so. The marshal will leave anybody who is unwilling
or unable to flee and then notify emergency personnel. At all times, the marshal
must put their security first.

Assembly Area
Safety Marshals are in charge of making sure that evacuees are collected at
the proper gathering spot, aren't obstructing emergency lanes, and aren't
preventing other evacuees from leaving. The marshal shall guide evacuees to the
secondary assembly site or to a mass assembly location if the primary gathering
place is unsafe or if instructed to do so by emergency officials.

The marshal may contact school responders if anyone in the assembly area
missing, need further help or medical attention. It is advised that everyone in
need of help congregate in one place.
