4.PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

4-1. Dimensions and Component Parts

Refer to attatched drawing

4-2. Construction and Principle of Operation

The oil filter is composed basically of a body① ,a cover② , an element③ ,
a relief valve④ ,a pressure gauge⑪ (optional), etc.
The filter is so designed that the hydraulic oil entering from oil inlet is
filtered as it passes through the filter element from outside toward the center.
The filtered oil is allowed to flow out from the center of the filter element,
pass through leave the filter from oil outlet.
The filter is so constructed that taking off the cover② , allows the filter
element to be removed from above.
Moreover, the air breather (60mesh) of body inclusion is equipped standardly.

・ Relief valve
In response to excessive clogging of the filter element with resultant pressure
loss beyond the preset limit, this valve is opened to let the oil bypass
the filter element and flow out directly from oil outlet, there by protecting
the filter element against damage. The valve has been set to be activated on
a pressure rise of 0.25MPa.

・ Pressure gauge (optional)

The inlet side pressure of a filter element is directed.

5.TRANSPORTATION

 Caution
* Wire roping and lifting must be done by qualified persons.
* Be careful not to turn over the oil filter or let it fall from a height.
Avoid danger.

(1) Rope the wire to fix on the housing body.

(2) Cover the oil filter to protect against rain in transit.
(3) Do not turn the oil filter over or fall. Do not impart shocks.

6.STORAGE

If the oil filter is not used immediately, store it with particular attention
paid to the following.

6-1. Temporary storage

(1) Keep it in a clean and dry room.
(2) If it is stored outdoors or in a humid place, cover it tightly with a vinyl
sheet or equivalent.

6-2. Long storage (Only case of Mineral oil)

(1) Rust preventive disposition at the forwarding;
Spreading the inside to NP-10 rust preventive oil.
(2) Rust preventive after delivery is effective for 2 or 3 months, in dry room.
In case of keeping for a long time more, open the cover and paint for rust
prevention NP-10 equal oil, every 2 or 3 months.
(3) When using the filter element of resolved or kept over a year, check whether
it is normal in hydraulic pressure examination for the maximum service press.

7.INSTALLATION

 Caution
* Never mount on or hang from the oil filter, or it may be damaged or
an injury may be suffered.
* Installation, operation, maintenance and checking must be performed
by skilled persons with expertise.
Unqualified persons may cause oil leaks or suffer an injury.

(1) Location and ambient conditions

Location: Indoors (where little dust raises,
water is not splashed on and there are no flammable)
Ambient temperature: 0℃ ~ 80℃
(2) Before connecting pipes, make sure of the locations of oil inlet and outlet.
(3) Inside connection is a screw type.

(4) In order to install, the hole(φ 69mm) for body attachment, the M6 tap(two
places) for body attachment, and the penetration hole(φ 7mm) for air vent are
required for the oil tank upper surface.(Ref.「 4-1. Dimensions and Component
Parts」 )
Install a body on the oil tank upper surface, unite an air vent hole with an
air breather, carry out the two-place bolt bundle of the attachment seat, and
fix.
(5) Connect pipes to the filter using care so that the housing is not excessively
stressed.
(6) Inside connection port have JIS B0203 pipe taper female threads (Rc). Before
screwing in pipes, make sure that male threads meet specification. An attempt
to screw pipe in Rc threads forcibly may result in a damaged housing. Carry
out pipe connection using Table1. Recommended Tightening Torques for IN/OUT Rc
Threads as a guide.
(7) When installing, allow sufficient space for maintenance work in future.
Be sure to provide an element allowance enough to enable easy replacement
below the housing.

8.OPERATION

 Caution
* Service pressure (including pressure variations) must not
exceed 1.0MPa.
Use under any higher pressure may result in a damaged filter.
* The oil filter becomes very hot during operation.
Stay away from it to avoid burns.

(1) Make sure that service conditions are as specified in [3. Leading Particulars]
in this manual.
When the oil filter is used in a hydraulic system, its selection according to
system pressure setting may turn out to be wrong in that the pressure actually
imparted to the filter may be higher than the set level.
In the case of use in a hydraulic circuit that undergoes continuous pressure
variations, consider, not system pressure setting but circuit peak pressure,
to be maximum service pressure.
(2) Starting with a low flow rate, introduce hydraulic oil into the oil filter up
to the specified flow rate.
(3) Check the housing for abnormal noise or vibrations. If any abnormality is
detected, stop the pump immediately and check for the cause.

9.MAINTENANCE AND CHECK

9-1. Daily Check

(1) Check the filter element for clogging periodically through pressure gauge.
(2) If the oil filter has no pressure gauge connected to it, check the oil being
filtered on a scheduled basis and replace the filter element according to
the degree of decline in filtration effect shown by the oil. Continued use of
a clogged filter element causes the relief valve to open to let contaminants
flow out of the oil filter, resulting in a malfunctioning system.
(3) For filter paper elements, semiyearly replacement is recommended to maintain
their performance, regardless of condition.

9-2. Replacement

 Caution
* Stop the hydraulic unit and ascertain that the filter pressure is zero
before replacing the oil filter.
* Keep the oil filter away from anything flammable during replacement work.

(1) Stop the hydraulic unit, and after ascertaining that the filter pressure is
zero.
(2) Remove a bolt⑧ and a washer⑨ and remove a cover② and a relief valve④ .
(3) An element③ can be extracted if it pulls up.
(4) Cleaning makes wire gauze reusable.
See [9-3 Cleaning Wire Gauze Filter Element] for details.
In the case of filter paper element, replace it with a new one.
(5) Replace the "O"rings ⑤ ,⑥ with new ones.
(6) A new filter element and assemble parts in the reverse order of removal.
Tighten the cap bolts⑧ securely to appropriate torque shown in Table 2.
[Recommended Lid Bolt Tightening Torques by Bore Diameter].

《 Note》 1. The bolts used must be cap bolts of "12.9" under JIS
classification by strength.
2. ※ The figures under "Arm Length: L(mm)" denote the arm
lengths of tightening tool. Use them as a guide in tightening.

9-3. Cleaning Filter Element

Clean the filter element with light oil (kerosine, gas oil, etc.) in the
following manner.

(1) Shake the filter element in four directions in the cleaning oil.
(2) Brush the filter element carefully to remove sludge.
(3) Blow off residual accumulations with an air spray.
(4) Rinse the filter element well and dry with an air spray.

《 Note》
The above way of cleaning is effective for wire gauze filter elements up to 40
microns in mesh size. In the case of wire gauze filter elements below 25 microns,
remove surface accumulations mostly by the above method and clean completely by
ultrasonic cleaning without fail.

In the cleaning tank, place the top and bottom of the filter element on the
vibrator side alternately and clean. While it depends on the capacity of the
ultrasonic cleaning equipment and the amount of sludge on the element,
the cleaning time should be at least 1 hour.

10.REPLACEMENT PARTS

Keep the following parts available for replacement at any time.

And Replace the "O"rings ⑤ ,⑥ with new ones.

■ Spare filter element

■ "O"Rings
※ Refer to the accompanying drawing for details.
