2. Quick instructions
- Install the filter firmly. Connect IN and OUT connections and make the indicator ready
for use.
- Make sure that the filter is in working order (transport damages etc.).
- Turn the valve to center position (Section 3.9 describes different positions of the valve.)
- Open a bit of air-venting valves and let the filter fill of oil.
- Close the air-venting valves when oil comes out.
- Choose the element to use by turning the valve.
- Check that there is no leakage.
- After pressure difference indication turn the valve to another limit position.
- Instruction for the maintenance has been presented in maintenance instructions.
- Ordering codes (for example sealing kit) are presented in Spare part drawing.
- After changing the element, make sure that it is disposed properly.

Rev 3 / 17.1.2008 Operation Instructions

3.2 Purpose of use

o The filter has been designed for fluid filtration.
o Operational safety bulletin of used fluid must be purchased.
o Filtration elements can be used in parallel or separated depending on
contamination in filtrated fluid.

3.3 Transport and weight

o The filter is recommended to transport on wood mount. The filter can be easily
fastened on the wood mount (not one on the other) so that overturning and
damages can be prevented.
o Ropes are allowed to use for lifting.
o The weight of the filter is approximately 200 kg.

3.4 Removing transport packing

o The packing should be removed carefully. Take care of proper disposal of the
packing material.
o Before use of the filter you should acquaint yourself with the operation
instructions

3.5 Installation
o Install the filter firmly. Connect IN and OUT connections and make the indicator
ready for use.
o Make sure that there is enough space for maintenance above the filter.
o Make sure that the filter is in proper working order (no transport damages etc.).

3.6 Preparing for use

o Turn the valve to center position.
o Open a bit of air-venting valves and switch pressure on. Let the filter fill of oil.
o Close the air-venting valves when oil comes out. Look out for oil spills!
o Choose the element to use by turning the valve.
o Check that there is no leakage.

Rev 3 / 17.1.2008 Operation Instructions

3.7 The first instance of use

o Check that there is no leakage.

3.8 Daily use

o Check that there is no leakage.
o After pressure difference indication turn the valve to another limit position.
o Maintenance should be done according to maintenance instructions

3.9 Controlling equipment

o There is a slow filling valve located in the middle of the main valve spindle.
This slow filling valve enables pressure balancing between housings.
o By turning the valve clean element on the other chamber can be enabled. The
valve should be turned slowly at the beginning to avoid any damages caused by
pressure shocks.
o The cover of the filtration chamber can be opened only if the air-venting valve
and opening guard have been removed. This means that the chamber is pressure
less.
o Beware of hot surfaces during servicing.
o On the lower part of the housings there are draining plugs. When the housing is
empty - remember to close the plug..
o Picture below presents different positions of the valve:
Different positions for the valve are illustrated in the next picture:
The red locking pin in the valve spindle points to the closed housing. When the
pin is in the middle position, both housings are in use.

3.10 Safety Instructions

o Do not turn the flow to the chamber where the cover is not tightened. There is a
risk of oil spillage.
o If air-venting valve is opened when the chamber is pressurized, there will be oil
flowing under the valve. Be careful that oil is not spilled on the floor. Oily floor
is very slippery.
Do not turn the valve too much. The oil flow can be totally closed which can
cause a major malfunction on the whole system
o Read carefully the service instructions before beginning of the service.

3.11 Servicing and spare parts

o Look the service manual on section 4.1 (page 6)
o When spare parts are needed look the spare part drawing to identify the right part
number with necessary seals (section 4.2, page 7).

3.12 Changing the element

o Look the service manual on section 4.1 (page 6)
o When spare parts are needed look the spare part drawing to identify the right part
number with necessary seals (section 4.2, page 7).

3.13 Disposal of used element

o Disposal the used element in proper way!

3.14 Prepare for oil spillages

o Make sure that there is impregnation material available near the filter location to
clean the possible oil spillages.

3.15 Danger of slipping and hot surfaces

o Make sure that the spilled oil is cleaned and that there is no risk for slipping.

FF2110
Rev 3 / 17.1.2008 Operation Instructions

o Be careful with hot surfaces of the filter and use proper equipment.

o An oil pan and adequate tubing should be used to control the oil coming through
the venting port. This venting oil should be returned to the system or properly
disposed.

4. Appendices

4.1 Service manual FF2110

Change the element after the high delta pressure signal, according to running hours or at least once
a year following the instructions below (In case of the metal mesh elements the elements can be
cleaned by using the ultrasonic cleaning equipment when high delta pressure signal is received.
Note! After cleaning metal mesh elements will not have 100% lifetime compared to new ones) :

- Close the flow to the chamber to be serviced by turning the valve to the closed position
(see correct valve position in section 3.9)
- Make sure that the chamber is pressure less by opening the air-venting valve mounted on
the top of the cover. Look out for oil spills
- Drain the chamber by opening the drain valve on the bottom of the chamber. Take care of
the oil!
- Remove the opening guard and open the filter cover.
- Lift the element with the holder from the filter chamber.
- Remove the element from the holder by opening the bolt from the bottom.
- Clean the housing and cover. Make sure that dirty oil or cleaning solvents can not enter
the clean side of the filter during maintenance.
- Check the sealing and change them if needed.
- Lubricate the sealing and the threads.
- Mount a new element to the holder.
- Install the new element with holder inside the chamber.
- Insert the filter element and holder assembly into the housing cover and fasten then.
- Attach the cover and fasten the bolts.
- Mount the opening guard, but do not tight the air-venting valve yet.
- Leave the air venting port slightly open and let incoming flow to fill the housing while the
slow filling port is in the FILL-position. This slow filling valve is located in the middle of
the main valve spindle. It enables pressure balancing between housings
- The chamber is full when there is only oil coming out from the top of the filter.
- Close the air-venting valve.
- Check that there is no leakage.
Service also the other chamber.

Look after the used element! Disposal it in proper way!
