1. Download AVEVA Point Cloud Manager


To Doenload the installer for AVEVA Point Cloud Manager please visit the following link:

https://www.aveva.com/en/support-and-success/support-contact/aveva-product-support/#LFM-Support

Here we see a list of available Installers. The latest release is available, as well as the last version that runs Sentinel
licensing beneath (5.7.0.1). Selecting Install will start the download for the relevant version. Note the release notes
which detail the improvements and engineering fixes for each version can be downloaded by clicking the Release
Notes link.

Once the installer has finished downloading, run the installer by double clicking on the downloaded .exe file.

2. Installing the software


Double clicking on the installer file will bring up the AVEVA Point
Cloud Manager License Agreement as shown on the left. Read
and understand the agreement. If you accept the agreement
select “I accept the agreement” and click Next to continue.

Specify the location you wish to install AVEVA Point Cloud


Manager to and click Next.

Note that multiple versions of AVEVA Point Cloud Manager can


be installed on the same machine at the same time. However
they must beinstalled in different folders e.g.

C:\Program Files\LFM Software\AVEVA Point Cloud Manager

And

C:\Program Files\LFM Software\AVEVA Point Cloud Manager

If an existing installation of AVEVA Point cloud Manageris found


in the specified installation location, the message shown left will
appear.

It is advised that a separate folder is used for the install.

On the next screen you can select the Point Cloud Manager
modules you wish to install including the different Point Cloud
Manager CAD links and supported laser scan formats.

Once you have selected the required options press next to


proceed.

Select the folder you wish the AVEVA Point Cloud Manager
shortcut to be created under in the Windows Start menu and
click Next.

Select the type of desktop installation you wish to create for


Point Cloud Manager. Normal/Version icons can be used on
projects to control access to important functions:

Normal Icon – e.g. AVEVA Point Cloud Manager

Version Icon – e.g. AVEVA Point Cloud Manager 5.11.0.0

Advanced Mode Icon – This will allow access to Project


Administration functions such as:

• Dataset generation
• HyperBubble creation
• Adding benchmarks
• Prepare for PDMS
• Signing a repositioned Dataset.

Review the summary window as shown left. Once you are happy with
the settings click Install to start the Install of Point Cloud Manager.

If any of the following AVEVA Point Cloud Manager CAD links have been selected their installers will start to run
automatically.

• AVEVA Plant/Marine
• AVEVA Review
• Intergraph
• Autodesk
• Bricsys
• Bentley

Please see Section 3 for information about CAD link installers.

Once the installation is complete the window shown left will appear.
Click finish to exit the installer wizard.

3. CAD Link Installers


If any of the CAD links have chosen to be installed, the wizard will begin a separate install for them respectively. Follow
the prompts on each CAD link installer to install.

Select the destination folder for the CAD link, this can set as default. For
AVEVA Plant/Marine or AVEVA Review please select the installation
folder for these software, otherwise the links will not function.

Select the folder for the AVEVA Point Cloud Manager which has been
installed.

For all the CAD links in the list above, you will be asked to specify the
version of the CAD package you wish to install the CAD link for. Please
ensure this is accurate inor for the CAD link to function. Please check the
supported CAD links FAQ HERE.

4. ALS Licensing
Since the release of AVEVA Point Cloud Manager 5.8.0.0 ALS licensing in now the only supported licensing type for
AVEVA Point Cloud Manager. The installation guide for ALS can be found here, this covers installation on a Server
machine and connecting clients to that server.

5. Silent Install
Note: User Account Control must be set to “Never Notify”.

Open the command window by going to the Windows Start menu and typing cmd in the search box. Right
click on the cmd.exe and select Run as administrator as shown below.

Once the command window is visible, navigate to the folder where the LFM Server installer is saved by using the cd
(change directory) command. For example:

cd C:\Users\username\Downloads

Type in the name of the installer with /SAVEINF=ServerInstall at the end. This is demonstrated in the screenshot
below:

Proceed with the LFM Server installer choosing the options that you wish to roll out.
Once the installer is complete, roll out with /VERYSILENT /SUPRESSMSGBOXES /LOG /LOADINF=ServerInstall

After a few moments the installation will be complete.

include as much necessary information to assist the support team in answering your query as quickly as

● AVEVA Point Cloud Manager on Connect issues should be logged as 1.0.0. This indicates that the
problem relates to a Cloud solution.
● Concise description of the issue
● Workflow steps to repeat the problem
● Download details of supporting data (scans/drawings/surveys etc.)
