DEFINITION OF AFRICAN TRADITIONAL WORLDVIEW: -

-The African traditional worldview is a holistic perspective that emphasizes the


interconnectedness of all things and the importance of community and relationships.

b. COMPARE AND CONTRAST: -

i. Traditional African worldview: - The Traditional African worldview varies


greatly based on culture and society it comes from. It generally involves the
belief in a certain set of values, customs, and practices that have been passed
down through generations. It tends to emphasize respect for the past, ancestors
and nature. The traditional world view also commonly includes the belief in
the existence of spirits and supernatural forces.
ii. Christian worldview: - The Christian worldview is based on the belief in one
God as described in the Bible. This view emphasizes the idea of human
sinfulness and need of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. Christians
believe that there is an afterlife where souls are judged. The Christians
worldview also places a strong emphasis on love, compassion, and
forgiveness.
iii. Islam worldview: - The Islam worldview is based on belief in one God as
described in the Quran. Like the Christians, Muslims believe in afterlife and
the judgment of souls. They also abide by a set of moral codes, with an
emphasis on submission to God’s will. Muslims believe in predestination, the
belief that God has already determined the course of a person’s life. In
addition, Muslims place a strong emphasis on the importance of community
and brotherhood.

c. DISCUSS ON –AFRICAN TRADITIONAL RELIGION AND MORALS ARE


INSPERABLE: -

- African traditional religion and morals are often seen as inseparable because of the way they
interact with each other in African societies. Traditional African religion is built on a set of
beliefs and practices that are meant to guide people’s conduct in their daily lives. These beliefs
and practices are deeply intertwined with the moral values and ethical standards that are
important to African communities.

-The moral values in African traditional religion are based on the idea of respect for others, a
sense of community, and the importance of maintaining balance and harmony in all aspects of
life.

In conclusion:-It is clear that African Traditional religion and morals are closely intertwined and
form an integral part of African society. The values and principles that underpin traditional
African religion are reflected in the ethical standards and moral values that guide people’s
behavior in their daily lives.

d. WHAT ASPECTS OF AFRICAN MORALITY CAN BEST CONTRIBUTE TO THE


WAR AGAINST THE SPREAD OF HIV & AIDS: -

-However in my opinion some aspects of African morality that can best contribute to the spread
of HIV & AIDS include: -

i. Community – Centeredness: - African morality is largely community- centered and this


emphasizes the importance of communal solidarity and the collective well-being of the
community.
ii. Respect for elders: - African culture places a high value on respect for elders, and this
can be harnessed to promote intergenerational communication about HIV & AIDS.
iii. Emphasis on abstinence: - Abstinence is highly valued in many African cultures,
especially among young people.
iv. Traditional healing practices: - Traditional healing practices are deeply rooted in
African culture, and this can be harnessed to provide alternative interventions for people
living with HIV & AIDS.
v. Emphasis on morality and virtue: - African cultures place a high value on morality and
virtues behavior.

e. DEFINITION OF RELIGION: - Religion can be defined as a system of beliefs, practices,


rituals, and values that revolves around existence of higher power or powers, usually considered
sacred or divine.
-Religion tends to involve organized communities or groups of people who share these beliefs
and practices, and it plays a significant role in shaping their worldview, spirituality, and sense of
meaning and purpose in life.

f. IMPORTANCE OF RELIGION: - The importance of religion varies among individuals and


cultures. For many people, religion provides a sense of meaning, purpose, and identity.

-Religion can serve as a source of inspiration, hope and resilience during difficult times.

-It often brings people together in worship, rituals and shared beliefs.

g. HOW IS AFRICAN TRADITIONAL WORLDVIEW INFLUENTIAL: - The African


traditional worldview is influential in many ways. It shapes the belief, values of African societies
and has a significant impact on their social, political, and economic systems. It emphasizes
communalism, spirituality, and respect for ancestors and elders. This worldview also includes a
deep connection to nature and the belief in the interconnectedness of all living beings. It provides
a framework for understanding the world and one’s place within a sense of collective
responsibility it has influenced various aspects of African culture, including art, music, dance,
storytelling, and healing practices.

h. THE EFFICIENCY OF AFRICAN MEDICINE MEN IN AFRICAN SOCIETY: - The


efficiency of African medicine men in African society can vary depending on various factors
such as the specific practices and beliefs of the medicine men, the availability of resources, the
effectiveness of treatments, and the overall healthcare system in place. However, in many
African societies, medicine men play a crucial role in providing healthcare and healing services.
They often have extensive knowledge of medicinal plants and traditional remedies, which they
use to treat various illnesses and ailments. Their methods may involve rituals, herbal
preparations, physical therapies, or spiritual interventions. These medicine men are often highly
