CAMERON, Texas - Rockdale’s sophomore running back Tim Grice ran off the left edge with

nothing but green grass in front of him. The speedster took his team’s very first play from

scrimmage to the house, giving the Tigers a 7-0 lead over their archrival Cameron Yoemen.

On a Friday night, on their rivals’ home turf, in a crucial district matchup, Grice had given his

team all the momentum heading into the rest of the game.
Grice’s team would not take advantage.

The 68th annual rivalry game between Cameron and Rockdale, known by locals as the Battle of

the Bell, would fall squarely in the hands of the #8 ranked Yoemen with a final score of 47-21.

Cameron had a big offensive showing during the

game, with 6 different players scoring touchdowns.

Cameron quarterback Braylan Drake went 19 for 28

on passing attempts for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Armando Reyes, Tavares Crittendon, and Kardarius

Bradley each added a rushing touchdown to the mix.

coveted Milam County Bell trophy.

Senior wide receiver / cornerback Trayjen Wilcox shined for the Yoemen, hauling in a 48 yard

touchdown pass on Cameron’s first drive of the second half, followed immediately by an

interception against Rockdale on their next drive.

“I’m glad the coaches came back to me and trusted me to make another play,” Wilcox said about

his performance in the second half. “It feels great to win in my senior year. We got a lot of

seniors on this team and we all wanted it.”

After Rockdale’s initial 70 yard touchdown run, they would struggle to get going offensively for

the rest of the night.

Rockdale quarterback Blaydn Barcak threw for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Running back

Tim Grice scored the initial rushing touchdown for the Tigers.

#8 Cameron remains tied for first place in district 3A-D1-11 at 4-0, and moves to 6-2 overall.

Rockdale falls to fifth place at 1-2 in district, 2-6 overall. Cameron now leads the series against

Rockdale 46-22 with a current 2-year win streak.

Next week Cameron will face the #1 ranked defending 3A-Division 2 state champs Franklin on

the road, while Rockdale will host Little River Academy.
