A gerund is a noun formed by taking a verb and adding the suffix “-ing.” The
gerund form of “give,” for example, is “giving.”
We use gerunds (verb + ing):
After certain verbs (deny, suggest, admit, et cetera)
- I enjoy singing at the stage.
After prepositions ( to, before, off, on, et cetera)
- I drank a cup of coffee before going to the office.
As the subject or object of a sentence
- Swimming is good for your health.
- She loves cooking.
