PARTS OF SPEECH

Noun – who? What? Dog, boy, laptop


Adjective – happy, steady, round
- possessive adjective - my , his, her + noun
Adverb – really, very, then (time when?, place where? , manner – how?)
Verb – do, get, like
- lexical verb – see, go, smile – I should have done it before!
- modal verbs – must, can, should
- auxiliary verb – do (do, does, did), have (have, has, had), be (am, is, are; was were) I’m a
teacher? I’m replacing my colleague teacher now
Preposition – at, about, off, in spite of, in (place, time, movement)- they appear before nouns
Conjunction – and, so, because, although, when

Pronoun – used instead of a noun
– personal (he, I, we)
- possessive (mine, yours, hers) = possessive adjective + noun This is my house/ This is mine
- demonstrative – this, that, these, those + noun
