1. Discuss the contributions of anthropological knowledge, approaches and perspective in the context of
the contemporary world, in general and Ethiopia in particular?
2. Make a brief discussion about Human evolution and the physical variations among the
modern human population, centering on the evolutionary process of human bio-cultural adaptation.
3. Describe the problem of human classification in racial terms (i.e., classifying people/groups by using
‘race’ as a system of human classification or group categorization).
4. Write a brief essay about ‘culture’, stressing on its conceptual meanings, main characteristics, aspects
(elements), and its features of universality, generality, and particularity.
5. Discuss ethnocentrism, cultural relativism, cultural universals, and human rights.
6. Discuss vulnerability, minority groups; marginalization; gender based marginalization; and suggest
solutions to eradicate marginalization.
7. Discuss customary systems of governance and conflict resolution institutions in Ethiopian context.
Compare similarities and differences among customary institutions in a cross cultural perspective. Explain
the roles of women in settling disputes and making peace. Explain the advantages, and limitations of
customary conflict resolution institutions.
8. Discuss what indigenous knowledge (IK) is meant, features, significances, and challenges facing
indigenous knowledge.
