What is business analytics?
• First-year unit that introduces the
concepts of business analytics
• The study of data through statistical and
operations analysis
• Essential in today’s data driven
environment
• Used for problem solving & business
decision making
• You will apply these techniques across a
range of business environments
• You will be introduced to MS Excel (an
industry standard) to input, report and
visualise data through dashboards
• Need to apply critical thinking to solve
relevant business problems

Plagiarism
• ECC/ECU observes strict rules regarding any form of
academic misconduct.
• All assessment items are submitted through the software
program Turnitin which searches for duplicate sources of
work.
• Each trimester there are strict investigations into students’
work.

• Working with other students on an
assignment which is to be completed
individually.
• Looking at work from other students
which has been completed in
previous semesters.
• Copying and sharing test materials.
• Copying and pasting work from other
sources.
• Not referencing correctly.
Plagiarism cases
– what happens?
• You will have an official meeting with
your lecturer who will record all
information on what has happened.
• You may be required to meet with the
Unit Coordinator.
• You will be contacted by the Academic
Director.
• A penalty will be applied which may
result in failing an assignment or the
unit.
• A permanent mark will be placed on
your academic record.
