Max Marks : 35 Day: Friday

NOTE : Answer all Two questions. All parts of the question to be written together.
Q.1 A continuous time signal x(t) is as shown in below figure.

(i) The signal y(t) is related to x(t) as y(t)  2 x(10 t  5) . Sketch and label the signal y(t) with all relevant
intermediate signals. [5]
(ii) Sketch and label the even and odd components of signal x(t) . [5]
dx(t)
(iii) The signal x(t) is applied to a differentiator, defined by y (t)  . Sketch and label the signal y(t). [5]
dt
(iv) Determine the fundamental period of a given discrete time signal x(n), if it is periodic. [5]

n  n 1
x(n)  cos  sin   
9  7 2
Q.2 (i) A system H is fed with three different continuous-time input signals, x1(t), x2(t) and x3(t) which result in
three different output signals y1(t), y2(t) and y3(t) correspondingly. These three input-output pairs are as
shown in fig. [15]

Determine whether or not the system H could be (i) memoryless/dynamic (ii) causal/non-causal and (iii)
linear/nonlinear. Justify your answers with proper explanation.
