Question 2

Recreational activities bring along numerous benefits to the surrounding community, and
they vary from one country to another.

Leisure includes several events ranging from watching TV, online gaming, to other
outdoor activities. The economic status of a nation affects the level of participation in
these recreational activities. Wealthier countries have fewer working hours, so people have
more time to participate in leisure activities. Some regions express higher interest in some
form of leisure activities than others.

The primary objective of most recreational facilities is to serve the community, but they
make considerable returns as well. They offer leisure activities like rock climbing, golfing,
pools, community playgrounds, and nature parks at a fee. They attract a significant number
of attendances, and although most of them charge lower entry fees, they still make
substantial profits due to the higher turnover. The facilities can maintain year-round
activities, particularly online gaming, and they might still operate offseason maintaining
constant income flow.

The word motivation is derived from a Latin word 'movere' meaning 'to change', to move'.
When we say that one is motivated, it means that he is driven or moved by an inner urge or
force to achieve the goal. We may refer motivation as a process through which an
individual is inspired, stimulated, goaded or coaxed to act in a particular fashion or manner
towards a particular direction.

Types of motivation
Intrinsic Motivation
the word intrinsic means belonging naturally , or something inherent, If it is the very
natural urge, the inner appetite or inherent interest which compels an athlete to initiate and
maintain tie activity, he is said to be intrinsically motivated, In this type of motivation
athletes engage themselves in an activity for their own sake.
Extrinsic motivation; where motivation is controlled or regulated by external means or
factors such as rewards, prizes, social recognition, position, jobs etc., and this type of
motivation is called extrinsic motivation, e.g., when an athlete takes part in any activity
with the object of winning a medal or trophy or securing a position or a job.

An attitude is an expression of favour or disfavour toward a person, place,
thing, or event. An attitude can be defined as a positive or negative evaluation
of people, objects, event, activities, ideas, or just about anything in your
environment.

Jung's definition of attitude is a readiness of the psyche to act or react in a
certain way. This definition of attitude allows for one's evaluation of an

meaning that they might at different times express both positive and negative
attitude toward the same object. This has led to some discussion of whether
individual can hold multiple attitudes toward the same object.
Methods of Forming Attitude
1. By Means of Suggestions: Suggestions are based on various things such as status of
generally reflected in prejudiced attitudes
2. By Blindly Accepting the Social Norms; there are societies which are totally male
dominating and do not allow female to explore themselves. In those situations they
have no option but to accept the norms meant for them by their society or
community. Hence, they have to blindly
3. By Means of Some Intense Emotional Experience; a human life consists of various
ups and down to accept the norms in forming their attitude. A person have to face
those extreme Circumstances to which he/she had not even thought of. Such kind of
state of affairs forcefully forms the attitude of a person

Education, brought about when positive enforcement follows success, is likely to
promote a positive attitude and motivate the individual to engage in lifelong

(i) Knowing Your Athlete: Each athlete comes from a different background with varied
experiences and having different degree of maturation. They have different attitudes
and opinions toward sports events and people in the sports environment. Each will
have different interest and desires. Thus, obviously what motivates one athlete may
not motivate another. Knowing all these individual differences will enable a teacher
or coach to motivate the athlete through suitable ways, and in appropriate manner.
(ii)Athletes are physically active and eager to engage in play and sports. Through
innovative curriculum planning, both interest and opportunity to participate can be
increased, which in turn will further motivate the children
(iii) Teacher as a Motivator: A teacher or coach who has participated in the sport
himself, who is highly skilled, and can demonstrate and explain the skill more
accurately, and can plan the next competition wisely, is a great asset in motivating
the athletes.

Sports are very essential for every human life which keeps them fit and fine and physical
strength. It has great importance in each stage of life. It also improves the personality of
people. Sports keep our all organs alert and our hearts become stronger by regularly
playing some kind of sports. It helps us to stay healthy, fit, and active. It teaches us the
value of teamwork and encourages us to work hard and never give up. Sports also help us
develop discipline, dedication, and commitment, which are essential values for success in
life. It is also a great way for people to socialize and make new friends.

Question 9

(a)Exercises play an important role in reducing obesity and weight control by increasing
energy expenditure, calling on stored calories for extra fuel. Physical activity increases
people's total energy expenditure, which can help them stay in energy balance or even lose
weight, as long as they don't eat more to compensate for the extra calories they
burn. Physical activity decreases fat around the waist and total body fat, slowing the
development of abdominal obesity. Physical activity and exercise burns out the excess
calories and keeps the weight under control.
(b) Characteristics of Play
1. Play Enables Children Explore: It allows them to discover, experiment, create,
concentrate, express ideas, develop speech, develop muscles, invent, learn new skills,
learn how other people behave, role-play (pretend to be someone else), share possessions,
use the imagination, co-operate with others, show off (children like to let others know
what they can do), act protectively towards someone less powerful than themselves.
2. Play Give Happiness: A child who is absorbed in play is likely to be a happy child, as
play produces feelings of satisfaction and achievement.
