INTRODUCTION

Satisfaction is a concept that has been discussed by philosophers since the

emergence of philosophy itself. we have thought of the philosophical question of "What
is the concept of satisfaction for the human person" because of this reason. Knowing that
we will also be interested in the topic has contributed to our cause in creating this
philosophical term paper. There may be the concept of happiness but if there is
happiness, there is also satisfaction.

According to Aaron Lauritsen, "If you didn't earn something, it's not worth
flaunting." Exploration of your possibilities is the earning of a thing that could satisfy you
and increase your potential. Experience is one of the contributing factors to achieving
true satisfaction. With both experiences and exploration of your potential, every human
person can obtain the satisfaction they are trying to achieve. For this reason, the term
paper aims to answer true satisfaction for a human person.

MEANING

The idea of satisfaction of a human person circles the emotional and

psychological well-being, happiness, or enlightenment that the person or individual
experiences when their wants, needs, and expectations are met. Satisfaction is a topic that
is subjective and can differ for every person but is commonly rooted in material, physical,
and emotional contentment. Understanding the idea of this topic involves the factors that
can make a human person have a sense of satisfaction and how it influences the overall
judgment that can help them with having a fulfilling life because the potential of a person
has been attained.

The comprehension of satisfaction can give people an idea of how they can have
or attain happiness and fulfillment which causes the idea of suffering to cease. Alicia Hall
talks about the idea of feeling happy and content in life. People often use the term "life
satisfaction" to mean the same as happiness and a key part of well-being. However, she
points out that there are two different ways people understand "satisfaction" in this
context. Some see it as meeting certain expectations or standards, while others see it as
simply feeling pleased with life. Because of these different understandings, there are two
main ways people think about life satisfaction.

ASSUMPTION

We think that satisfaction has a very important role in a person’s whole life. Once
they succumb to their demise and they are satisfied with their life, they will not have any
more regrets as to what their lives can offer. We also think that the human person, if
satisfied, will be free of past regrets and has accepted anything wrong with the people.
Additionally, we think that assumption is associated with positive emotions such as
happiness, contentment/fulfillment, and pleasure, and when a person experiences one of
these emotions, they would most likely be satisfied. Furthermore, we think that
satisfaction can be changed over time, meaning that while being satisfied today, it can
mean that a person wouldn’t be satisfied with it in the future.

In conclusion, we assume that satisfaction is an important aspect of a person’s

life, and having satisfaction can free a person from past regrets. Satisfaction is associated
or connected with emotions and it is dynamic, meaning it can change over time. Thus,
when a person experiences a thing that makes them satisfied, their emotional state is most
likely to be affected.

BASIS

According to Clark A. et al. 2018, the most critical factors affecting a person’s
happiness are their mental health, physical health, and relationships, meaning these
factors also affect their satisfaction in the sense that what they do makes the contentment
achievable. According to Ackerman C. 2018, satisfaction is our general feeling about life
and how it is going. Some factors affect and add satisfaction to our lives, including work,
relationships with family and friends, romantic relationships, health and wellness, and
others. This means that satisfaction is a big factor that affects our mental and physical
health, which apparently, is what gives us happiness and contentment. According to
Veenhoven R. et al.1996, life satisfaction is the stage in which a person positively
assesses the quality of his/her whole life, based on how that person likes the life he/she
took.

In conclusion, most of the people who have researched satisfaction agree that to
be satisfied in life, one has to have positive mental health and good physical health, to
achieve said satisfaction.

IMPLICATIONS OR CONSEQUENCES

Based on the information earlier, it says that the concept of satisfaction for the
human person is connected to how they think and their overall happiness in a certain field
or activity. The assumption of this research has a clever connection with the basis of this
term paper. There are three components that define the concept of satisfaction for a
human person: mental, physical, and social health.

In mental health, A person's mental state, comprising their views, beliefs, and
perspective on life, has a major influence on how satisfied individuals become. To serve
as an example, someone with a positive and optimistic outlook often finds fulfillment in a
broader range of circumstances, whereas someone with a pessimistic outlook may find it
difficult to find satisfaction even in situations that are beneficial. Furthermore, a person's
mental viewpoint affects their level of self-worth and perceptions of oneself that affect
how satisfied they are with both themselves and their achievements.

In social health, the degree of a person's interaction with other people also has a
big influence on a person's overall satisfaction and pleasure since humans are purely
social individuals. An individual's satisfaction is greatly influenced by their interpersonal
connections, feelings of belonging, and support from friends and family. On the other
hand, unfavorable encounters or a lack of social relationships can result in dissatisfaction
and perhaps even mental health problems.

Lastly, In physical health, The state of one's physical health has a significant
impact on their general satisfaction with life. It affects social relationships, mental health,
self-esteem, independence, energy levels, and pain management. While poor physical
health can cause dissatisfaction and limit one's capacity to fully engage in life's
ambitions, good physical health enables a more meaningful and rewarding existence.
Putting physical health first is crucial for raising overall satisfaction and happiness.

In conclusion, mental, physical, and social health affect one another and to the
human person, their overall concept of satisfaction. To achieve ultimate and true
satisfaction, human persons must be able to distinguish between beneficial and non-
beneficial.

ANALYZATION DIAGRAM

SYSTEMATIC DOUBT

Now that we have the answer about what is the concept of satisfaction to a human
person, we would now want to find out how a human person attains and makes
satisfaction last a lifetime. Knowing the factors that affect the satisfaction of a human
person, we have formed a question that would greatly help a human person to attain and
maintain satisfaction in their life.

Now that we have acquired the knowledge about the concept of a human person
to satisfaction, it is the positive influence of mental, physical, and social health, and
having these factors would help a person achieve said satisfaction. And now, we would
be questioning and answering how a human person makes their satisfaction last a
lifetime. A human person would be able to maintain their satisfaction and make it last a
lifetime by having a positive and growing/developing mental, physical, and social health.

Maintaining a human person’s overall health means that one should take care of
mental, physical, and social health. Firstly, to be able to maintain our mental health, a
human person needs to manage their stress, setting possible goals, and we can seek help
when we really need it. Secondly, to be able to maintain our physical health, a human
person should exercise daily or regularly, do a healthy diet, get enough sleep, have
regular check-ups, and avoid vices. Lastly, to be able to maintain our social health, a
human person should spend time with their loved ones and make new friends through the
same or with common interests.

ARGUMENT

According to the interview podcast named “Satisfaction” (2016), and said by one
of the Interviewees in the interview podcast, Lietzow, S. H., satisfaction is the discovery
of your own purpose in your life. In order to achieve your own satisfaction, you must
have a goal and your satisfaction will most likely be what society sees as normal for
satisfaction. In conclusion, their interview with Interviewee Lietzow, S. H., Interviewer
Lietzow, R. said that her mother’s ultimate and true achievement of satisfaction is
through balancing the inner and outer self. It was not all about the abundance of what you
have here in the physical world, nor a status that is high in the world, but we must keep a
balance of both inner and outer peace. Interviewee Lietzow, S. H. practices filial piety,
and her satisfaction comes from her parents. Kongzi’s definition of Filial piety is that this
is the ‘root of Goodness. Interviewee Lietzow, S. H. 's idea of goodness is noticeable
through her filial piety.

In the same interview podcast, another interviewee named, Pina, J. says

satisfaction is about the achievement of small wants, desires, or goals, that make you feel
happy. At the end of this interview, Interviewer Howard, M. stated that Pina’s idea of
satisfaction is the overall concept of Taoism. Seen in the Basic Writings on page 57 in its
second paragraph. The overarching idea is that let your mind accept what is
uncontrollable and focus more on what you have and what you can control. Pina’s
definition of satisfaction is spontaneous, living in the moment, and dwelling the the
present moment rather than in the past and future moments. Pina’s view was that
satisfaction is short-lived yet there are many of those short-lived moments. Pina has
treated events as independent; that's how he can be satisfied.

And lastly, the Father of Epicureanism, Epicurus said about satisfaction, “He who
is not satisfied with little, is satisfied with nothing.” Epicurus simply stated that
appreciating or finding joy with little can lead to more to a more satisfying life.

Additionally, he pointed out that those who desire more are never satisfied for the
question “There will and can be more" is prominent to these people.

DIALECTIC

Combining both Systematic Doubt and the Argument, will be the formation of the
answer on how to attain and maintain lifelong satisfaction for a human person. It
highlights that satisfaction is highly affected by the factors: mental, physical, and social
health. A human person should need to have these factors in order to have lifelong
satisfaction. But how do we maintain and keep positive these factors in our life, you ask?
our mind or mental health, a human person should have to manage their stress well, set
possible goal, and seek help if needed, to maintain our physical health positively, a
human person should exercise daily and keep a healthy diet, and to maintain a human
person’s social health, one should always have a healthy relationship with others.

There are people that described or gave the definition of satisfaction to a human
person.

According to Leitzow S. H., happiness is about discovering your life's mission.

She also emphasized that in order to be happy, you must often seek for things that society
considers typical or normal. She believes that true satisfaction comes from harmonizing
your inner feelings with how things appear on the outside. It's not simply about having a
lot of stuff or being well-connected. Lietzow, S. H. finds fulfillment in caring for her
parents, which is tied to the concept of filial piety.

Another person in the podcast, Pina J. said that happiness comes from attaining
little goals or acquiring what you want. He talked about living in the moment and not
being too concerned with the past or the future. Pina's concept is similar to the Taoist
philosophy of accepting what you can't change and focusing on what you can.

Finally, Epicurus, known as the Father of Epicureanism, stated that being content
with the small things in life leads to a more fulfilling life. He also stated that people who
are always looking for more are never truly happy because they believe there is always
something greater out there.

In conclusion, in order to have satisfaction in life, the mindset of having

goodness, letting life flow, and appreciating the little things, the people involved around
us who will also benefit from our own satisfaction, and up until when we can our

physical body keep up with the attainment and maintenance of lifelong satisfaction. That
being said, having satisfaction in life can also give us a lifelong happiness and
contentment, although it is subjective and can differ to other people, achieving
satisfaction in life can result in a human person going without regrets and they could live
life to the fullest.
