Key Concepts
Caring for Plants
• Grow plants in fertile soil.
• Pull out weeds around plants.
• Expose plants to enough sunlight.
• Give plants enough amount of water.
• Use a natural fertilizer such as compost or manure.
• Keep plants free from pests by using good environment-
friendly pesticides.
Handling Plants
• Some plants have thorns like roses,
bougainvilleas and cacti. They can prick
your fingers. If you need to cut thin stems,
use a pair of scissors and gloves. Some
plants have sharp leaves.
Examples of these are cogon and sugar cane.
