Hi kids! Welcome to the world of living and non-living things.

This activity sheet will discuss about the importance of both

living and non-living things to humans and our surroundings.

Humans, plants and animals depend on both living and non-

living things in the environment for their basic needs.


Food, water, and air are important to living things. Sunlight,

shelter, and soil are also important for living things. Living things

interact with nonliving things in the ecosystem.

What I Need to Remember

People use different parts of plants and trees for raw materials in

building houses and making clothing. We also use some plant parts for

food and medicine. Insects and other organisms also benefit from plants

and trees. Plants become the habitat for these organisms and also

provide them food. Also plants provide shelter through the raw materials

used in building houses and furniture.

While non-living things around are also present in the

environment. Living things meet their wants and needs from non-living

things. Non-living things also gave human comfort and convenience.
