Plants are important in the world. Our livelihood

depends on it, such as food and clothes, household items,
medicines we take and more. This is our basic needs so we
build relationships with plants and the environment. The
connection of plants, animals, people and other parts of the
environment is called Ecosystem. The lives of people,
animals, and trees will be in danger if we continue to
destroy our environment.

Divide the class into 2 groups. Each group will be given an

activity.

image that shows environmental conservation. Why?
Write your answer on a piece of paper.

The pupils will perform the activity

the things that you can see in the pictures that can destroy
our environment like animals and trees. In the second
column, write what people should do to preserve and
protect our environment. The pupils will perform the activity

ELABORATE

The teacher will give additional information to the pupils

on how to preserve and protect the environment.
As a grade 3 pupil, you can do the following:
1. Participate in tree planting campaign in your
barangay, to replace trees that have been cut down.
2. Dispose the garbage properly, whether at home,
school or even in the community to keep the
environment clean.
3. Make or do the 3Rs to protect our natural
resources.
Reduce—use less and buy less paper materials to save
trees. Use both sides of the paper. Buy and use only
what you need.

Reuse – Bring reusable cloth sacks when shopping, for

groceries and other household needs. This practice
minimizes the need for plastics and paper bags. This
will mean that, less garbage that will go to the landfill.

Recycle—Dispose certain materials like papers, cans,

plastics or aluminum at a special facility that will
break them down for use in a new product. Some local
goverments and private organizations collect
recyclable materials in their districts.
