4. Passing the Assignment

B. REVIEW Let’s have a short review regarding

what we have discussed last meeting.
I have here a box. Inside the box are
photos that describes the use of water
in daily activities.

You will pass the box next to your

classmate and as the music stops, the
student holding it will get one photo.

All you have to do is to describe what

kind of activity is being portrayed in
the photo and explain how water
helps us.

Do you understand? Yes, Ma’am.

(The students will pass the box

to their classmates.)

PHOTOS:
1. A kid brushing his teeth.
2. A mom washing the dishes.
3. A pet taking a bath.
4. A baby drinking water in a
bottle.
5. A dad cleaning his car using
brush, soap and water. (Student’s answers varies)
Very good. Do you appreciate now the Yes, Ma’am.
importance of water?

It’s pretty clear that you have

understood our lesson last meeting.
C. LESSON PROPER Observe these photos. You have to
make two words, based from
describing the photos.

(the teacher will flash photos)

What do you think are those two

words?
Water Cycle, Ma’am.

Very good! Good! Today we are going

to talk about how the water from
billions of years ago has been recycled
by the earth and is being used by
each one of you today. The process
of the earth recycling water is called
the water cycle.

As water goes through this process,

its changes states. Do you know that
water has three states? What are
those three states or forms of water?
Water can be solid, liquid, or gas
Ma’am.
Very good!

Solid- such as ice

Liquid- that is wet and fluid
Gas- that is in a form of vapor, in the
air

Now, the water cycle is made up of

four processes:

1. Transpiration / evaporation
2. condensation
3. Precipitation, and
accumulation.
4. Collection/Water Storage

Let’s investigate how each of these

processes work to keep water from
billions of years ago moving around
the earth.

The water cycle is the continuous

recycling of water on earth; from the
oceans, up to the sky and down to
land, to be transported back to the
oceans and sky again.

Water is constantly moving due to the

energy of the sun transforming
surface water into water vapor. The
water vapor eventually forms clouds,
and clouds condense back into water
droplets. When the droplets become
so dense in the clouds, the force of
gravity pulls them back down to the
earth where the cycle continues all
over again.

Let’s discuss the processes one by

one.

5. Evaporation:
It is when the sun heats up water in
the seas, rivers, lakes, oceans and
glaciers and turns it into water vapor
or steam, and rises up into the
atmosphere.

Transpiration:
Water is also evaporated through
plants and soil through this process.

6. Condensation:
As the water vapor rises higher into
the air, it cools and condenses.
Condensation means that the water
changes from gas to liquid (water
droplets). It forms the bluish and
white thing in the sky. What do you
think it is?
Clouds! Ma’am

Nice! Clouds are made up of million

tiny droplets of water. How cool it is,
right?

Moving on,

7. Precipitation
The water keeps condensing to form
clouds, but when there is too much
accumulation or collection of water,
the clouds become heavy. What do
you think will be the effect of this?
Rain, Ma’am!
Good! And if the atmosphere is cold
enough, the form of precipitation
changes from rain to snow and sleet!
8. Collection/Water Storage
In the last stage, the water will go
back to the bodies of water such as
oceans, seas, rivers, lakes and
glaciers.

It also can be soaked up by the soil,

called infiltration.

Are the processes of water cycle clear

to you, class?

Yes, Ma’am!
IV. GENERALIZATIO Now, can you give at least 3
N importance of water cycle?
(Student’s answer varies)
V. APPLICATION Okay it seems that you understood
our lesson, let’s have an activity.

On a bond paper, draw a water cycle.

Color it using crayons and also write
the processes involved.

Is everything clear?
Yes, Ma’am.

(The students will do the

activity.)
