through a poster.

1. ELICIT- 2 mins. [English] MATERIALS

The learners will be asked to explain the highlights they have
learned from the previous topic.

What are the different weather instruments?

- the different weather instruments are room thermometer,
anemometer, wind vane and wind sock.
2. ENGAGE- 5 mins. [English, EPP] MATERIALS
Activity 1: Name That Actions! • Box
• 5 random

weather
conditions
• Blindfold
• Timer

Divide the class into 3 groups. Each group should select 1

representative to pick an item in the box. The representative will
have to act or show how to use the item in specific weather
attached to the item without talking in front of the class. The
members will then guess what kind of weather is being acted by
their representative. If the guess is correct, they will have to share
their experience in that weather.
Rules:
1. The representative will be blindfolded for the facilitator to
have enough time to hide the item inside the box.
2. Strictly no looking inside the box. Only guess by feeling.
3. No words. No pointing at objects in a room. No lip
movements.
4. The actor has limited time (2-3 minutes) to act out the
phrase to his own team.
5. The team with the lesser time and high number of guessed
items will receive the mystery price.

Ask the following questions:

1. What have you observed from our activity? What about the
items?
2. What are the challenges of guessing the action and how do
you overcome it?
3. What do you think will happen if we don't know the safety
precautions in different weather conditions?
4. Do you think your classmates could still perform the activity if
they don't know how to use the items that they've picked in
specific weather conditions?
5. Based on our activity what do you think is our topic today?

At the end of this lesson, the Grade IV learners should be able to:

1. Identify safety precautions during different weather

conditions;
2. Perform the importance of readiness in dealing the different
weather conditions through differentiated activities; and
3. Value the importance of safety precautions during different
weather conditions through a poster.

Activity 2: Wonder Time!

"Toto and Joy's Weather Adventure" that tells how they spends
their day. As for their activity, the students will present the various
materials for safety precautions in different weather condition
mentioned in the scenario. The teacher will give maximum
supervision as she guides the students in carrying out their task.

"Toto and Joy's Weather Adventure"

Toto and Joy are best friends, and they were excited for
their long-awaited picnic day at Plaza Heneral, one of the most
beautiful parks in General Santos City.

But before they go, they first apply a generous amount of

sunscreen to protect their selves from the heat of the sun and also
to prevent sunburn, and skin cancer. After they apply sunscreen

They packed their favorite snacks, and fruits in a

Tupperware and they also put their water in a reusable water
bottle instead of bringing some plastic cellophane, to lessen the
garbage and also to help the environment since the Tupperware
and the reusable water bottle can be e used repeatedly for a long
time because of their durability.

After packing their food, they set off to the Plaza Heneral,
eager for a day of fun and relaxation. As they arrived, the sun
shone brightly, giving a warm glow over the green surroundings.
Toto and Joy found the perfect spot under a large shady tree and
spread out their picnic blanket.
They savored every bite of their delicious snacks and
enjoyed the peaceful ambiance of the park.

Suddenly, dark clouds began to gather, and raindrops

started to fall. It seemed like the weather had a different plan for
their picnic.

Thankfully, Anna brings an umbrella. They quickly open it,

laughing and joking as the rain poured down around them.

But the rain soon gave way to a strong blow of wind,

making the umbrella hard to handle. Realizing they needed a
shelter,

Toto and Joy spotted the OLPGV Parish Church one of

the Catholic churches near Plaza Heneral. They hurriedly
gathered their belongings and run towards it, seeking shelter from
the strong wind.

Just as they thought the weather had calmed down, they

heard the distant sound of thunder, and the clouds are becoming
darker, signaling an approaching storm. Concerned about their
safety, Toto and Joy decided to stay inside the church.

Where they joined other people who were also seeking

shelter from the storm. They also share their remaining food with
other people inside the church and they also grateful for having
shelter to stay on during the storm and also for being safe, as they
knew that staying indoors during a thunderstorm was important to
avoid the risks associated with lightning strikes and flying debris
during a storm.

As the storm gradually passed and the skies become clear,

Toto and Joy thanked the pastor and other people in the church
for sheltering them. After that, they decide to go home.
Though their picnic plans had been changed by the unpredictable
weather, Toto and Joy embraced the adventure and learned
important lessons about being prepared for different weather
conditions to stay safe.

Activity 3: Value the importance of safety precautions during

different weather conditions through a poster.

Using the short story above answer the following questions

through a poster.

Reflective Questions:
1. What would happen 5 years from now if we cannot solve
the environmental problems?
2. What is the importance of different weather safety
precautions in various weather conditions?
3. Using the safety precautions in different weather conditions
what will you do to help the society?
