Our lesson for today in Physical Education 3 Quarter 3 is all


about Kunday-Kunday Basics

Expectation:
At the end of the lesson you are expected to:
* Demonstrates movement skills in response to sound
* Engages in fun and enjoyable physical activities

Drill
Please read the following words:

*KUNDAY-KUNDAY
*KUMINTANG

Preparatory/Warm-Up Activity
BOLA-BOLA ACTIVITY
With the class forming a circle, the teacher will play “Leron-
Leron Sinta”. Every time the music stops, the movement of the
ball will stop. The pupil who is holding the ball will share his/her
feelings and expectations about the lesson.
B. Establishing a purpose of the new Are you familiar with the following dances?
lesson ( Motivation) Have you ever danced? Look at the pictures and say the names
of the familiar Philippine folk dances below.

I will show you a video presentation about “TIKLOS”


and “KUMINTANG” please observe carefully because I
have questions to ask.
-What are the things that you observed in the dance
tiklos?
-How many girls are there? How many boys are
there?
-If we combined the girls and the boys, how many is
the total number are dancing the tiklos?
-What do you feel when you watched the dancer do
Kumintang?

C. Presenting examples/ instances of What is dance?


the new lesson Dance is an activity where you move your body in time
with the music. Dancing is a part of human expression. People
dance to celebrate, recreate, compete, perform, rituals and enjoy.
Some dance to stay fit. You, as a yong person, have all the
qualities to be involved in dance. You should know what dancing
can do to you. Dance, as a physical activity, gives benefits to
young people like you.

What other benefits do we get from dancing?


Dancing should be one of your physical activities, even at
your age. When you dance your:
*Immune system becomes stronger.
*Bones and muscles are strengthened.
*Joints become more flexible.
*Entire body is toned.
*Balance and posture improve.
*Stamina and flexibility increase.
*Confidence is developed.
*Social life may improve.

1. Introduce the new dance by playing the music of Kunday-


Kunday by showing a video:
*Is the music slow or fast?
2. Introduce briefly the meaning of Kunday-Kunday, its
nature and description.

3. Introduce the arm positions/ movements and the dance


steps. (Note: The procedure should be delivered in MTB
D. Discussing new concepts and Demonstrate to the Learners the following BASIC movements
practicing new skills no. 1 Kumintang—Rotate the
wrist clockwise or counter
clockwise

Arms in Lateral Position –


Place both arms at one side,
either right or sideward left.

Arms in Reverse T-Position


– Place the arms at the side
horizontally, the elbow bent
at right angle, the forearms
parallel to the head and the
palms forward or facing
inward.
Change step – Step right foot
sideward (1) close left foot to
the right foot (2) and step in
place with the right foot (3)
Touch step – Point right foot
forward (1) close right to the
left (2). Repeat with your left
foot.

E. Discussing new concepts and MIRROR ME Activity:


practicing new skills no. 2 The learner will demonstrate one by one the basic skills.
The learner will imitate the Teacher’s action every after the basic
skills.

Perform the Basic Skills through the MIRROR ME Activity
(This is through the guidance of the teacher)
F. Developing Mastery (Leads to Group Activity – Turo Mo – Aksiyon Ko!
Formative Assessment) 1. Group the learners into 4 groups.
2. The teacher will make 4 stations namely 1, 2, 3, and 4
3. Every round the group leader would select 1 member to
represent the group
4. The teacher will say the word, then after 3 counts they will act
the named basic skills in 8 counts.
G. Finding Practical Application of TUGTUGAN NA, BAYLEHAN PA!
concepts and skills in daily living. Group Presentation:
Each group will perform the five (5) basic skills in dancing
Kunday. Each basic skills has 16 counts.
But before that, let the pupils remind the Setting of Standards in
doing the group Activity. Let the pupils go in there respective
groups.

H. Making Generalization and What is Kunday?
abstraction about the lesson What are the basic skills in dancing Kunday

Kunday literally means to move the hands gracefully somewhat


like a Kumintang. When adults wants small children to show
them some artistic and graceful hand movements then ask to
Kunday. Kunday is used in Tagalog region in connection with
hand movements. The Kunday movement is conspicuous in this
dance (Francisca Reyes Aquino)

Basic Skills: Kumintang, Lateral Position, Change Step and


Touch Step.

This rubrics will serve as a basis in giving rating of their

record your dance performance through video.
 You may edit your performance using any video
editor.
 Use the suggested Tiklos or Kumintang music as
your dance accompaniment in performing.
