Life
Jesus Christ died on the
cross to give us new life.
New Life in Christ
In the conversation of Jesus with a Jewish leader named
Nicodemus, He explained to him that for us to enter the
kingdom of heaven, we must be “born again,” that is to be
born of water and spirit.
When Christ said we must be “born again” to participate or
enter God's kingdom, He was not referring to physical birth,
just like how Nicodemus understood Him. To be “born again”
clearly means “new life.
Apart from God, we will always fall into temptation and sin.
We can only be strong against sin and remain in the new life
given to us by Christ if we remain in Him who strengthens us.
Our life here on earth is temporary. Jesus teaches in Jn 3:16
that if we believe in Him, we will have eternal life, Eternal life
means that we have a relationship with God forever. Jesus
promises us forgiveness of sins and a new relationship with
God when we put our faith in Him.
The Celebration
of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the first sacrament we receive
since the reception of the other sacraments depends on it.
Thus, once a person is baptized, he formally becomes a
member of the Church and receives a new life as a child of
God. In the celebration and reception of the Sacrament of
Baptism, various aspects are considered.
The Celebration
of the Sacrament
of Baptism
While the Church has an extended rite of Baptism that is
normally celebrated, which includes roles for both parents
and godparents,
the essentials of that rite are two:

1. the pouring of water over the head of the person to be

baptized (or the immersion of the person in water)

2.The words “I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of

the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
