Module No. 11
FIDES

Fides or faith is very important especially in this time of pandemic. As mental expert suggests, a
person with a strong spirituality or faith tends to recover faster from a mental health problem and is more
resilient in facing the challenges of life.

At the end of this module, you are expected to:

1. define the meaning of faith
2. explain the importance of prayer in our life
3. describe what faith does to our life

Fa

The 3 Acronyms for FAITH

1. Fully Anticipating It To Happen- (Hebrew 11:1- Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and
assurance about what we do not see.). In Science, the principle is “to see is to believe” but faith works
in a different manner, you have “to believe first then you will see”. A person with eyes of faith can
easily see God even in small things, he can easily see the blessings of God in his life and he can easily
feel God’s presence and leading in his life. Blessed are those who believe even without seeing the Lord
just like what Jesus told doubting Thomas in John 20:29, “Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have
seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’

2. Forwarding All Issues To Heaven- (Matthew 21:22- Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if
you have faith)- Jesus himself emphasized and modelled to us the importance of prayer. He would
always wake up very early in the morning even after a very busy schedule in order to pray, he would
always pray before eating, before performing a miracle, before his ministry and even as he prepared
before he was tempted by the devil. Jesus also prayed before his paschal ministry in the garden of
Gethsemane and he prayed even in his last breath while he was crucified. Jesus modelled to us that
prayer is a very important spiritual activity. Praying is our lifeline to God. God doesn’t need our prayers
but God wants us to pray because it benefits our being. Just like in physical exercise that when done
regularly makes us physically fit, the same is true with prayer which is a spiritual exercise. It strengthens
our core and spirit when we do it regularly, it makes us strong enough to resist even the temptation of
the devil. Prayer gives us many graces including fortitude in times of challenges in life.

1
3. Find Assurance In Trusting Him (Proverbs 3:5-6 -Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on
your own understanding. In all your ways, submit to him and he will make your paths straight. Like
the story of Job who couldn’t understand what was happening in his life where all his riches and
children were gone at an instant, he continued to trust in the Lord. Job did not lean on his own
understanding and continued to choose to trust despite all the negative things that are happening to
him. At the end , he was abundantly blessed by God for remaining faithful and trusting despite all the
challenges he had faced.

I SEE YOU LORD
(Aiza Seguerra)

I'm so blessed my Lord

I can see you
In all the lovely things
So fine and true
I see you in the beauty
Of the flowers and the rain
I see you between the lines
Of a sweet refrain
I'm so blessed my Lord
I can see you
Even when I'm lonely and in pain
I see you in the beauty of the stars at night
I see you in my life
I feel alright
I see you Lord
In sorrow and in happiness
I see you in the glory
Of sweet success
I see you Lord
Every hour, everyday
I can see you Lord
Whenever I pray
I'm so blessed my Lord
I can see you
In the smile of a baby
Sweet and true
I can see you in the eyes
Of my very best friends
I see you in these bonds
Just like your love that never ends
I see you Lord
In sorrow and in happiness
I see you in…
