ABSTRACT

This topic is related to the use of electromagnetic radiation to make mobile phones jammer and
the technique can be used in many applications. Use of mobile communication devices have
dramatically increased in last two decades. This proliferated the need of a more effective and
secure signal for a cultured society. Mobile jammer circuits are used to prevent mobile phones
from receiving or transmitting signals. Mobile jammer effectively disables mobile phones within
the defined range zones without causing any disturbance or interference to other communication
means. It can be used in any location, in practical, are used in places where phone calls are
disruptive like schools, libraries and hospitals etc. Radio jamming or mobile jammers send the
radio waves of same frequency that mobile phones use to block the signal. This signal causes
interference to the communication between mobile phones and base station to make the phones
unusable. When mobile jammer is activated all mobiles within the-rang will indicate "No
Network" service. Design and study of mobile jammer is discussed in this report. Additionally, it
complies with the Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) ordinance
of KSA.

INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND INFORMATON

Communication jamming devices were first developed and used by military. This interest comes
from the fundamental objective of denying the successful transport of information from the
sender (tactical commanders) to the receiver (the army personnel), and vice versa. Nowadays,
mobile (or cell) phones are becoming essential tools in our daily life. In the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia, three main cell phone carriers are operating; namely; STC, Zain and Moberly. All of
them use the GPRS system, and EDGE system for 2G, GSM 900 and GSM 1800 for 3G. While
in 4G range, LTE 1800, LTE 2300 and LTE 2600 are used.

Needless to say, the wide use of mobile phones could create some problems as the sound of
ringing becomes annoying or disrupting. This could happen in some places like conference
rooms, law courts, libraries, lecture rooms and mosques. One way to stop these disruptive
ringing is to install a device in such places which will inhibit the use of mobiles, i.e., make them
obsolete. Such a device is known as cell phone jammer, which is basically a kind of electronic
countermeasure device. The technology behind cell phone jamming is very simple. The jamming
device broadcasts an RF signal in the frequency range which is reserved for cell phones uplink
and downlink purposes, this generated frequency interferes with the cell phone receiver signal
frequency to results in a "no network available" display on the cell phone screen

OVERALL OBJECTIVE

To design and Analysis of Mobile Phone Jammer

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

i. To design capable of jamming the up/down link of GSM 1800.

ii. To design a cable that consume less power.
iii. To design a cover area of small radius.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Due to the increasing sophistication and high technology, most people are using mobile phones,
and also due to the need for man to stay updated with his environment, the use of radio is also in
wide use.

Mobile phones have become a very important communication tool today. With the use of the
mobile phones everywhere, it becomes annoying device while working, studying, praying and
many more.

Modern technology has contributed to the sophistication of bombs which are being triggered by
GSM and Radio signals.

Wireless mobile jammer can be placed in schools, mosque, and conference hall, meeting rooms,
library and many more places which need quiet and peaceful environment. This device will
block the transmission of Radio and GSM signals
LIMITATIONS OF THE PROJECT

This project only focuses on blocking the signal transmission of GSM900 which is the range
between 935 to 960 MHz. This is because the components are hard to find in Kenya for the
GSM1800 frequency range between 1805 to 1880 MHz The components for GSM1800 are also
very expensive compared to GSM900

The second limitation is that for reliability of the jammer, a Radio Frequency amplifier should be
incorporated but the components required for this are difficult to find

LITERATURE REVIEW

A mobile phone jammer is an instrument used to prevent cellular phones from receiving

signals from base stations. Jammers effectively disables cellular phones. These devices

can be used in a variety of locations, but are primarily installed in places where a phone

call would be particularly disruptive because quarantine from noise is desired. As in case

of other radio jamming devices, cell phone jammers also block the usage of cell phones

by sending out radio waves in the same frequency range which is being used by cell

phones. This causes enough interference with the communication between cell phones

and company towers to render the phones unusable. On most retail phones, the network

would simply appear out of range. Most cell phones use different bands to send and

receive communications from towers (called frequency division duplexing and FDD.

Jammers can work by either disrupting phone to tower frequencies or tower to phone

frequencies known as uplink frequencies or tower to phone frequencies called downlink

frequencies. Smaller handheld models can block all bands from 800 MHz to 1900 MHz

within a certain area depending upon the power of the circuit

METHODOLOGY

BLOCK DIAGRAM

EXPLANATION OF THE BLOCK DIAGRAM

There are mainly two types of power supply. One is battery and other is direct mains power.
Small range jammers use batteries. These batteries look like a cell phone battery. While wide
range jammers are generally fed up by mains power. But a disadvantage of it is jammer work till
the electricity is present.

Internal Circuitry

The most basic circuits are used in jammers. One part of its circuit is a voltage controlled
oscillator. Voltage controlled oscillator is a circuit which generates a signal of desired frequency.
Another part along with it is a tuning circuit which allows to change the frequency. After that a
random noise is inserted into the signal so that mobile phone can’t identify the signal. Next stage
is amplifier which increases power of the signal. And last stage is antenna.

Antenna

Antenna is a device which transmits the signal. Generally, there can be three or more than three
antennas in a jammer. Each one is for specific use like GSM, 3G, DCS, Wi-Fi etc.
CIRCUIT DIAGRAM
CIRCUIT OPERATION
if mobile phones at your area work at 450 MHz, you need to generate 450 MHz with some noise
to act as the blocking signal. Now the cell phone receiver will not be able to understand, which
signal to receive. We have successfully blocked cell phone signals.

• Capacitor C1 and inductor L1 a make a tuned circuit. This circuit acts as an oscillator with
zero resistance. It produces very high frequency with minimum damping. both inductor and
capacitor of tuned circuit will oscillate at its resonating frequency. When transistor Q1 is turned
ON, the tuned circuit at the collector turns ON.

• The tuned circuit operation When the circuit is ON, voltage is stored in the capacitor. After
completely charged of capacitor, it allows to flow the Charge (current) through the inductor.
When current flows through the inductor, it stores magnetic energy corresponding to the voltage
across the capacitor. When the charge of inductor reaches its maximum then the charge or
voltage across the capacitor turns to Zero.

• The magnetic charge through the inductor will decreased and the current will charge the
capacitor in opposite or reverse polarity manner. Again after some period of time, capacitor will
get completely charged and magnetic energy across the inductor will be completely zero. Again
the capacitor will give charge to the inductor and becomes zero. After some time, inductor will
give charge to capacitor and become zero and they will oscillate and generate the frequency.
This process runs till internal resistance is generated and the oscillations stop.

• The capacitors C2 and C3 generate noise pulses at the tuned circuit in randomly The RF
amplifier boosts the frequency generated by the tuned circuit. The frequency generated by the
tuned circuit and the noise signal generated by the capacitors C2 and C3 is combined, amplified
and transmitted.

Power supply should between 3v to 5v. less than or up to 500ma
