Advantages & Disadvantages

of Using Plastic
Nowadays, it is common for people to use disposable products. Such as straws, grocery
bags, single-use cutlery etc. And commonly, those are made of plastic. But are we educated
enough about this topic? Do we know, how this usage of plastic affects our planet?
To start with, plastic products are easy to purchase. They are not expensive and you can
find them at pretty much any store. It is also easy for us to just use something and then toss it
out. Because we don't have to deal with washing it. Furthermore, plastic is insoluble in water.
Which makes it the perfect material for some industries like textile manufacturing, diving and
so on…
On the other hand, plastic is the most harmful material to our oceans. This was proven
by a lot of solid resources like National Geographic. Nearly 700 species, including endan-
gered ones, are known to have been affected by plastic waste. (Obviously, in a bad way.)
Plastic materials are very hard to recycle as well. Every year, there are thousands of animals
dying due to the amount of plastic waste. The estimated number is over 100 million! Which
is just a little part of harm that plastic causes.
In conclusion, plastic is a big part of our lives. And it looks like that will last for a long
time. But with using different methods, trying more sustainable options, we can decrease the
harm that it causes. Because we do not have another planet to live on, if we destroy this one.
