INTRODUCTION

Gaby’s Best Bites is a restaurant that offers homemade food for the customers. Gaby’s
Best Bites is located at Barangay Cawit, Boac, Marinduque. The purpose of this study is to
identify the possible problems and challenges the business faces. The purpose of the study is to
identify a possible solution and analysis for the problems and challenges of the business, and
also to analyze what are the other problem of the study. One of the objectives of the owner of
the business is to have a restaurant here in our community that people would love to go to,
also to provide jobs to the people in the community. And also another key objectives of the
business is to serve local and homemade foods for their customers and make their business
grow bigger and to have business branch here in Marinduque.
The following questions being used in the case study are:

 When did you start the business?


 Mission at the start of the business.
 Services/Products you offer.
 How do you advertise your business?
 What made you choose your business location?
 How did you come up with the business name?
 Who are the target market?
 What is your advice to others who want to build a business?
This following research questions was being asked by the interviewer for the business. This
questions will be our guide on identifying the problems or issues of the business or even can
help to identify a solution for the problem or issues.

BACKGROUND

Gaby’s Best Bites is a restaurant that offers homemade food for the customers. Gaby’s Best
Bites is located at Barangay Cawit, Boac, Marinduque, owned by Mr Jeffrey Mangaliman and his
wife Mrs. Sherilyn Mangaliman. Gaby’s Best Bites started its operation in year 2011. Gaby’s
Best Bites is named after to the youngest and only daughter of the owners. Gaby’s Best Bites
offers local and homemade products for their customers. One of the strategies of the owners
on running the business is analyze the products to be offered to the customers and to observe
or analyze what products does the customer wants. The owners inspiration in running their
business is their children because they wanted to give their children a wealthy life and so that
they can provide the needs of their children. When it comes to the products Gaby’s Best Bites
offer homemade products like their pizza dough and burger patty, they always make sure to
serve fresh and quality foods for their customers that may satisfy their cravings and will make
them to come back again to eat. Gaby’s Best Bites uses social media to promote their business,
they also post the products or services they offer on social media.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Gaby’s Best Bites is a restaurant that operates for almost 11 years, so they are now
experiencing and encountering different problem and challenges in running the business. And
one of the main problem in the business is the existing competitors in the community, in
today’s generation there are now new pop up restaurants that catches the eye of the
customers and also another competitor is the other restaurants we have. Because most of the
existing restaurants is also offering foods and other services to the customers. And also there
will be a scenario wherein some of the customers may compare the business to other existing
restaurants and some are dining in to the restaurant that has cheaper price. Another problem
or issue that the business faces is the rising cost of daily consumables, because price inflation of
daily use products eatables, and other supplies has risen steeply. And because of it, it will affect
the price of the food offered by the business and because of that the owners will make the
price of the products increase.

Another problem is the Unique Selling Proposition and making a perfect menu. Unique Selling
Proposition is one of the problem, because in running a business like this we need to identify
the unique selling point on how should we price the products and also because of this we can
identify what are the products or services that the competitors don’t have. And lastly is making
a perfect menu, among many issues or problems a restaurant faces menu is one of the highlight
in every food business. In making a menu every products and services is included. And what are
the price of the products or services to be offered.

It is significant to seek attention to this problems because it will be the guide to provide a
better solution for the problems in the study.

 What strategies do you feel Gaby’s Best Bites will do in the next few years?
 With the technology changes over time and become wider, should Gaby’s Best Bites
improve their advantage on the use of technology.

ANALYSIS

In the following problem statement we can say that all of this problems were encountered of
the business. All the information we gathered about the business was very useful on identifying
the best solution for it. All in all I elaborated some key points on determining what really the
problem in the business is. In analysing the solution to the problem in the study, one of the
appropriate tools or framework to analyze the situation is the question 1 of the study I chose
the Poster’s 5 Forces as its focuses on existing threats as well as the threats that can appear.
And for the question 2 I chose the 5P’s of marketing as it also focuses on promoting the product
or services in the business also it focuses on the how the business will market the business. By
the use of this tools I identify the best now determine the best solution for the problems in the
study.

SOLUTION

1.) What strategies do you feel Gaby’s Best Bites will do in the next few years?

 Gaby’s Best Bites should improve their service while maintaining the quality of food
they offer.
 Offering different homemade food products in the menu. So the customers would
discover new food flavors.
 Use social media platforms to promote the business.

2.) With the technology changes over time and become wider, should Gaby’s Best Bites
improve their advantage on the use of technology.

 Gaby’s Best Bites should use widen their use of social media platforms.
 Adapt the advancement of technology to their business.
 Use social media platforms to promote the business
 Adapting the advantage of technology when it comes to innovation.

IMPLEMENTATION

One of the Porter’s 5 Forces is the Buyer Power and the threats of New Entrants, Buyer
Power brings new customers and markets, and products or services. While threats of New
Entrants, brings innovation and new ways of doing. So Gaby’s Best Bites should be open for
new customers and markets and should also provide a new set of products and services. In New
Entrants, Gaby’s Best Bites should innovate new products or services. And after developing new
products or services it may now bring new customers and may bring back old customers also.
After analysing the market conditions and target segment, every business requires to coming
up on a plan to develop their business. And for that Gaby’s Best Bites 5Ps marketing strategies
are: Product they should add more homemade products; Place it should be more spacious to
the people; Price should reflect how good the quality of food; Promotion adapt the
advancement of social media platforms in promoting the customers and the business should be
more creative and lastly is People Gaby’s Best Bites needs to understand the needs of the
customers when it comes to quality of food so for them to be satisfied to the services of the
business.

RESULTS AND EVALUATION

So after knowing the problem, after giving solution to the problems and implementing it I
think the case study has been solved. But solving the case study doesn’t mean that it is fully
resolved it means the study will still have following problems and circumstances we need to
solve.

CONCLUSION

In making this case study I’ve learned many things, I also discover that it was a bit hard
identifying the best solution for the problem but I some ideas refresh in my minds which
include the Porter’s 5 Forces. In managing this kind of business we should really think first what
the products are or service we should offer to the market, next is the market and the customer
because they’re the one who will purchase the product, and lastly, is the competitors in the
market because they will be one of your challenge in a business industry. So after making this
case study the insights that I gain is that we should make strategies to make our business
effective we should also make backup plans if the business we put up doesn’t click to the
customers.

So 10 years from now, as a future entrepreneur I would apply the learnings I learn on
making this case study, maybe this will be my guide on identifying the problem my business
faces or maybe this case study will help me develop solutions or strategies for my business. And
because of this case study something lighten me up or add more confidence for me to continue
doing business, because we seek advice to the owner of Gaby’s Best Bites, we asked her what is
her advice to the future entrepreneur like us and she said that “if you establish a business you
should be ready for the problems that you may encounter, all business is facing problems, at
first there will be downfall then sometimes someone will purchase and sometimes will not. But
never give up, we should continue establishing your business, then when it comes to the product
you should make it more delicious so that when they come back the quality of food is worth it,
but if you give up the customers will never go back.” This advice literally stocks in my mind like
it’s a music that continuously plays, it’s true that when it comes to business we should not
really give up, but instead we should stand tall and be confident about it. Yes, life is full of roller
coaster ride there are times that there is downfall but in the end of each rainbow there is
success and hope. Like in business, managing is like you are counting salt, before you become
successful you would cross thousands of challenges first, after going to the end of the rainbow
of success. We should be a RISK TAKER to become SUCCESSFUL.
