The Sugar Act (1764)

Although there were many events that led to the American Revolution,
I chose to write about the Sugar Act of 1764. This British law had
charged duties on the sugar that was imported by the colonies. Several
other products were also taxed those being: wine, coffee, and textiles.
The Sugar Act also banned the direct shipment of several important
commodities such as lumber to Europe, which had upset the balance of
trade for the merchants in the North Sea Ports.
