Grade: II
Topic / Concept: Introduction to Area (Calculation of area of square)
Expected Learning Objective: Students will be able to know how to calculate area of a square.

Resources Needed: A4 size chart paper, Notebook, Crayons, Pencil, and Eraser.

Lesson Activities:

5-10 Introductory activity (Pre-Lesson): Teacher will start the class by showing these
minutes three different size papers

And children will discuss with their friends which paper has more space to write.
After that teacher will discuss what is area and how to calculate area? Then
teacher will show them floor tiles, chessboard, and square biscuit and the
students will find out how to measure these area by square units. Then teachers
will introduce the topic area of a square.
AREA:-Area is the space occupied by an object.
20-25 Main activity (During Lesson): Teacher will divide the class into 4 groups then
minutes she will provide flash cards to the students with different shapes, then
students will calculate the area of the shapes.
Plenary (Post Lesson)
As the students have learnt about area of a square. so they will do the following:-
They will draw the below shapes and colour it in flash cards.
