Grade: II Mathematics
Topic / Concept: Growing pattern
Expected Learning Outcome: Students will learn about growing pattern and its application.

Resources Needed: Chart paper, Flash cards, Crayons, Sketch Pens.

Lesson Activities:

Time-45 Introductory activity (Pre Lesson): Teacher will start the class by showing the
minutes children, her own childhood pictures till present. She will discuss with the students
what they observed by seeing all these pictures. She will get answers like your face

has changed, you have become taller, etc. After the discussion she will draw the

following pictures on the board.

Yes, she will converse about these pictures as we human beings grow from
childhood till adult age, the same way the growth can be represented through
pictures, shapes and letters. We observe the pattern rule to get the next shape or
picture.
After discussing the answers with the students, the teacher will introduce the
concept of growing pattern.
If the pattern increases according to a certain rule, then the pattern is called an
increasing pattern or growing pattern.

Main activity (During Lesson): The teacher will divide the class into groups and will
provide them flash cards with some cut out of shapes like triangle, circle and
square. The students will use those cut outs to make their own growing pattern
and will paste it on the flashcard.

Plenary (Post Lesson): As the students have learnt about the use of growing
minutes pattern, so they will be called to the board group wise and the opposite group will
frame their own question of growing pattern and the other need to answer. In this
way they will have a group discussion on the topic.

questioning.

Assessment of learning: EST:- WB page 45(Q3 and Q4)
HA:- Look around your house and list three things along with drawing
in which you find growing pattern. Do it in HA copy.
Exit: Find a growing pattern near your surrounding?

Competencies /Global skills developed: Students were able to understand the concept
related to growing pattern.
