An Essay On Health

Crafting an essay on the broad and encompassing topic of health is undoubtedly a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty lies not only in the vastness of the subject but also in the need to strike a
balance between the scientific intricacies, societal perspectives, and personal experiences associated
with health.

Firstly, the multidimensionality of health demands a comprehensive exploration. Addressing physical

health involves delving into various aspects such as nutrition, exercise, and medical advancements.
Simultaneously, mental health adds another layer of complexity, intertwining psychological well-
being, stress management, and the understanding of mental disorders.

Furthermore, the societal dimension of health introduces yet another challenge. Analyzing health
from a societal standpoint necessitates exploring healthcare systems, policies, and the impact of
socio-economic factors on public health. This requires extensive research and critical analysis to
navigate through the complexities of healthcare infrastructure and its implications on the well-being
of communities.

Personal experiences and anecdotes, while adding depth to the essay, also pose a challenge.
Balancing the incorporation of individual stories without losing the broader perspective is an art. It
requires the ability to weave personal narratives seamlessly into the overarching theme, ensuring that
they enhance rather than overshadow the larger discourse on health.

Moreover, the ever-evolving nature of health-related topics adds an additional layer of difficulty.
Staying current with the latest research, medical breakthroughs, and societal trends is a constant
demand. This dynamic nature of the field necessitates continuous updates and adjustments to
maintain the relevance and accuracy of the essay.

In conclusion, writing an essay on health is a formidable task that requires a delicate balance between
scientific precision, societal awareness, and personal reflection. It demands meticulous research,
critical thinking, and the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources. Despite its
challenges, tackling such a crucial topic provides an opportunity to contribute to the discourse on
well-being. For those who find themselves overwhelmed by the complexities of such tasks,

Physical Therapy Marketing Paper
The second project that will help enhance the marketing for RSM PT is the making of a
5k walk/run event during the month of October specifically for physical therapy
awareness month. My vision is to get the community involved and create awareness of
the impact of physical therapy along with physical activity. Each therapist is required to
take an anatomical area (hip, knee, shoulder, back, neck, hands, feet and offer further
information. Consumers who are interested on a certain area can ask the therapist further
information and potentially encourage them to set up an appointment for an initial
evaluation. Each therapist is required to sign up and have a booth in which they will
have an activity or offer a brief lecture on one of their specialties.
Jamie Barko Lucy Case Study
At the young age of 10, Jamie Bartkowicz was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder (OCD). Her parents did not seek help, for they thought she would grow out of
it. As she grew older, her disorder only worsened and her OCD lead to the beginning of
many other conditions. By college, she had developed severe anxiety, which eventually
lead to depression. As her depression carried on, she developed an eating disorder and
started self harm. Her thoughts of suicide became more often and more serious. Lost and
unsure who to turn to, Jamie joined an advocacy group for depression, self harm,
addiction, and suicide prevention at her university. At the first meeting she attended to,
an 18 year old girl spoke up and shared her experiences with
Essay about Everyday Use
The characters in Everyday Use by Alice Walker serve as a comparison between how
family heritage and traditions are viewed. Walker illustrates that heritage is represented
not by the possession of items or how they look, but buy how they are used, how one s
attitude is, and how they go about a daily lifestyle. Every memory or tradition in
Everyday Use strengthens the separation in the relationship between Dee and her mother,
the narrator, which involves different views on their familyheritage. Mrs. Johnson, the
mother, is described as, a large, big boned woman with rough, man working hands (6).
She tells some of her capabilities including, I can kill and clean a hog as mercilessly as a
man. . .I can work outside all day, breaking... Show more content on HelpWriting.net ...
Dee uses her knowledge to try to intimidate her family as well as others. She uses
African phrases that she thinks shows an understanding of where she comes from.
Neither Mother nor Maggie knows what Dee is saying. The clothes Dee wears are
what she thinks are inspired by her African heritage. In reality Dee s understanding of
heritage is what has been taught to her in school, and not from her ancestors. Mrs.
Johnson, as well as Maggie, thinks Dee does not appreciate or approve anything not to
her standards. Mrs. Johnson says Maggie thinks, her sister has held life always in the
palm of one hand, that no is a word the world never learned to say to her (6). Dee hated
the house they used to live in before it burned down. Mrs. Johnson even had a thought
that Dee could have possibly set the house on fire because she hated it so much. At the
beginning of the story Mrs. Johnson says she dreams of being on a television show
with Dee where they are happy and smiling at each other. Mrs. Johnson knows Dee
would not approve of how she looks, she does not fit the ideal picture of what a
modern African woman should look like by saying, I am the way my daughter would
want me to be: a hundred pounds lighter, my skin like an uncooked barley pancake (6).
Dee also shows a lack of appreciation for her heritage by changing her name to one that
symbolizes nothing. Dee informs her mother she is no longer Dee and her name is now
Wangero. Dee tells her mother she couldn t
Red Flour Beetles Lab
INTRODUCTION In this lab, the class discovered the effects of different substrates and
stimuli on red flour beetles. Red flour beetles eat flour and other grains and the female
beetle deposits her eggs on flour, cereal, dry pet food, or other similar products. The
larvae hatch and then begin to eat the material around them. In the article Patch
exploitation by Tribolium castaneum: Movement patterns, distribution, and oviposition ,
it says that most of the activity from red flour beetles is spent in food sources (Campbell
and Hagstrum). There are many factors that affect the red flour beetles ability to survive
or reproduce, like temperature, food source, stress, and genetics (Biology 159). In
Humidity Reactions of Tribolium Castaneum (Herbst) , it states that red flour beetles are
attracted to different substrates due to their nutritional levels and moisture level of the
substrate (Willis and Roth).... Show more content on HelpWriting.net ...
The first hypothesis for this lab is that, if red flour beetles are placed in the center of a
dish with wheat flour on one side and white flour on the other, then more beetles will
go to their preferred substrate. Our prediction is that the white flour side will occupy
more red flour beetles than the oat flour side of the dish because that is the preferred
substrate. The null hypothesis is that there will be no preference between the two
substrates. The second hypothesis for this lab is that, when red flour beetles are placed
in the center of the petri dish with sugar on one side and white flour on the other, then
more beetles will go to the preferred substrate. Our prediction is that the white flour side,
again, will be the preferred substrate and occupy more red flour beetles. The null
hypothesis is that there will be no preference between the two
Critical Criticism Of Genesis
Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are Genesis 13:14. The word
genesis is the dawning of creation, and the biblical book of Genesis is the book that
brings fourth the creation of our planet and the life that resides. Genesis also describes
the descent of Adam and Eve and unveils the foundation that sin builds upon. Genesis
introduces the origin of the holy land, Israel, and inception of holy covenants promised
by the holy trinity; the son, the father, and the holy spirit. Genesis communicates the
definite events of one of the most contended controversies of our current philosophical
climate, the origin of all things existing. This holy book of creation faces several critical
issues, such as stylistic variation, and... Show more content on HelpWriting.net ...
To conclude that differences in style or vocabulary unmistakably indicates different
authors is invalid for anybody of literature. It is well known that a single author may
vary his style and select vocabulary to fit the themes he is developing and the people
he is addressing. It goes without saying that a young graduate student s love letter will
vary significantly in vocabulary and style from his research paper. Style is an
ultimately a subjective view, and the two creation accounts will remain no more than
an opinion through the argument of a sceptic, especially when it involves a book that
was written two millennia ago. Moses is the author of Genesis, whom was a prophet
that was called upon by God to lead his people from slavery in Egypt. It is obviously
apparent that Moses did not live through Genesis creation, but were made known to him
through his revelation with God and has depended on historical references that were
currently available at the time. But the record of the fathers, even the patriarchs,
concerning the right of Priesthood, the Lord my God preserved in mine own hands;
therefore, a knowledge of the beginning of creation, and also of the planets, and of the
stars, as they were made known unto the fathers, have I kept even unto this day, and I
shall endeavor to write some of these things upon this record, for the benefit of my
posterity that shall come after me. Abraham 1:31. Any precise date when Moses lived
Theme Of Stanley In A Streetcar Named Desire
In A Streetcar Named Desire , the characters of Blanche and Stanley are presented as
opposing characters in the book, and hence a lot of conflict and friction occurs between
them. The character of Blanche is an older character, from a rather wealthy background
and lives in a fantasy world in which she is still young and hasn t faced the truth. The
character of Stanley, however, is a more realistic and primitive character and can be
viewed as Blanche s opposite.
Throughout the play, there is a constant battle between Blanche and Stanley for Stella.
This is shown at the beginning of the play when Blanche disapproves of Stella s home
and what she is dressed in, which to Stanley on the other hand seems completely normal
and fine. Blanche: Why, ... Show more content on HelpWriting.net ...
Stanley is shown as the reality of the modern society in that time, where Blanche
believes that she is still young and beautiful, and that all men adore her. Approaching the
end of the play, in scene 10, the idea of Blanche s fantasy is very clearly shown to the
audience [She is now placing the rhinestone tiara on her head before the mirror of the
dressing table and murmuring excitedly as if to a group of spectral admirers] . The
word choice of murmuring shows to the audience that she doesn t know exactly what
she is saying or thinking giving the effect that she is insane, not just messing around.
This leads to further conflict in this scene as Stanley walks in and begins to pick apart
Blanche s lies and stories she has told him about the millionaire. After Stanley has
done with eating away at Blanche s tales, he proceeds to rape her. The stage direction
[...as he waits between BLANCHE and the outer door. The barley audible blue piano
begins to drum louder. The sounds of it turns into the roar of an approaching

The blue piano symbolises Blanche and her fantasy world, but as the locomotive
approaches it overcomes the sound of the blue piano. The locomotive shows the real,
cruel world Stanley lives

How Did Walt Disney Influence The World
On December 5th, 1901 a legend is born, Walter Elias Disney became an icon in the
cartoon and children movie business. From the theme park in Orlando to the cartoons on
televisions across the nation, Walt Disney has engraved his name in history and in many
of our hearts as one of the most influential people in modern art.
Walt Disney was the fourth born to a poor family in Chicago Illinois. A few years after
he Walter was born the family moved to Marceline Missouri a town of about two
thousand people. While living in Marceline Walter started to develope his love for
drawing by copying the front page of his local newspaper as well as making his own
drawings and selling them to a retired doctor. In the year of 1918 Walt Disney tried to
enlist in the armed forces but he was rejected to serve in a combat position due to him
only being sixteen at the time. Instead he went to France and drove an ambulance for
the Red Cross. During his time with the Red Cross he grew in his artistic abilities by
covering the ambulance with cartoons from the front to the back. This was the start to
what would become some of the greatest cartoons in American history (WALT).

In The Forensic Science Field, Laboratory Tests Are Becoming
In the forensic science field, laboratory tests are becoming more criticized in today s
world of technology. Human hair is one of the most common types of evidence found
at a crime scene. Following hair analysis, there is also DNA fingerprinting analysis.
Many victims of this flaw have been wrongfully sent to serve time for these flaws in
testing. There have recently been more strategies to help improve these tests and provide
for a better outcome in trial. Labs now have certain guidelines to follow while running
tests, and at crime scenes, investigators are taking precautionary measures when
collecting evidence to test. The forensic sciencefield is one of the most powerful parts of

As well as the process of DNA hair analysis, all people are affected by fingerprinting.
Some negative effects of this ongoing problem include the use of planting fingerprints
at a crime scene. There has been cases where DNA evidence of fingerprints were
planted on objects or the evidence and so they would be wrongfully accused of
crimes. Another flaw of fingerprinting is that jobs and people can be used to profile
and discriminate before meeting. When children are born, their feet are inked and
marked on paper to secure the identity. Fingerprinting is a flaw because it is a
mandatory piece of evidence and analysis. When you are born, a DNA sample is
collected at the hospital right after being born, therefore giving no option to the matter.
The only way the process of fingerprinting would change is if the government decides to
change how labs run and laws about fingerprinting. The reason why fingerprinting
analysis is not being changed is because it is different in every state. With fingerprinting,
there is no rule of how many comparison, or minutiae points forensic scientists must have
in order to compare a known fingerprint to a question. The relation between this issue
above to the overall flaws of the forensic science field is that it can be argued in court
that although these comparison points were found on both fingerprints, it doesn t mean
that it could be that person who could be convicted
A Survey On Botnets Are The Networks Infected By Malware
A SURVEY ON BOTNETS

ABSTRACT:

Botnets are the networks infected by malware. Over a period of time, these botnets have
become a vulnerability to the web. Botnets are created to perform large scale illicit
activities, sometimes even endanger the operation of public and private service
organizations across the globe. This paper portrays a complete survey that discusses the
botnet problem in detail. This paper summarizes a list of the important and recurring
research problems that remain unsolved.

Introduction: Approximately 16 25% of the systems connected to the web are botnets(or

to imperil the operation of private and open ... Show more content on HelpWriting.net ...
Above all, botnet operation could be lucrative for its controllers on the grounds that
bots are reasonable and generally simple to proliferate. Case in point, Symantec
reported an ad on an underground discussion in 2010 advertising a botnet of 10,000
bots for US$ 15. This botnet may be utilized within a spam or rogueware attack, yet
could additionally be utilized for a distributed denial of service attack.
Botnet activity is in charge of gigantic fiscal misfortunes to Internet Service Providers,
privately owned businesses, governments and home clients. ITU (International
Telecommunication Union) appraises that the money related impacts of malware extent
from US $13.2 billion, in immediate harms brought about to the worldwide economy in
2006, to US$ 67.2 billion, in immediate and aberrant harms to US organizations in
2005. The worldwide expense of spam in 2007 has been evaluated to have been US$ 100

Analysis Of Imre Lakatos s Concept Of Research Programme...
Imre Lakatos was a 20th century philosopher of mathematics and science, who
introduced the concepts of research programme and the protective belt. It is evident that
Lakatos ideas stem from two other philosophers of science discussed in class. The first
being Karl Popper, and his concept of falsificationism. Popper suggested theories cannot
be proven, but, rather, falsified. After putting a theoryunder experimentation, if you
observe results that conflict with the claim or hypothesis, then the theory as a whole
gets discarded. The other philosopher is Thomas Kuhn, who is known for his idea of
paradigm shifts. He said that after long spans of normal scienceand experimentation in a
given period of time, there will then be a sudden change in a way of thinking, which
leads to a paradigm shift, and progress in science.
Lakatos idea lies in the middle. He said that a theory progresses over time, and every
succession a scientist makes in the field of a specific theory, gets added to its
hardcore. Lakatos calls this the research programme; in other words, it is a chain of
experimentation and progress in a specific scientific realm. All of the scientists working
in the same research programme form a protective belt around the core. The purpose of
this protective belt is to allow for experimentation and research to be done, without
destroying the hardcore when a hypothesis is falsified, unlike falsificationism. When I
think of the hard core and protective belt, I see the hardcore

#1 eBay Selling

The first way to make more money online is to sell items on the site eBay. eBay is an
online auction and shopping website that allows you to sell your own household items
online for a profit or buy a product from the site and then resell it for a greater profit. It
is probably the biggest and most popular of this type of websites throughout the entire
Internet. A good aspect of this money making plan is that it is easy to sell products on
the site.

There are some cons associated with this way of earning though. Such as the fees
correlated with the selling a product, there is more than one. Another issue is that it is
not easy and a lot of work for sometimes less than satisfactory outcome. Along with all
this it can be quite difficult to determine the right niche for your products in order to beat
the heavy competition involved with whatever it might be. All that said, there is money
to be made.

Descriptive Essay On Computer Store
It s 8:59 A.M. on a Saturday, and I am waiting with my dad in his car. It is the only car
in the strip mall parking lot. I am antsy to get my repaired computer back to play
games. A small silver car pulls in next to us and out walks a college aged guy that
smells of a stale smoke. My dad hands me some cash and I walk into the store behind the
young guy as he turns on the lights of the computerstore.
You come to pick up a computer? the young smoker asks me while he boots up the
store s main computer. He is polite and asks me questions about some of my hobbies; I
tell him my fascination with electronics and how I ve been wanting to build my own
computer. I glance around the store and stare at the variety of computers, devices, and
printers within the store. The printers are piled on top of each other blanketed in a
layer of dust. Parts are overflowing from the shelves, making a thin walkable path
throughout the store. Vast amounts of various computer components are scattered on
tables, and there is a stack of desktop computers piled to the ceiling. This store is a
messy computer museum! It s an unorganized chaos, but I am mesmerized. As I am
waiting for the man to print my bill, a middle aged man enters the store and heads
straight to a private cubicle with privacy provided by a sheet of plywood. He is

Literary Analysis Of Adela Strangeworth And Emily Grierson
In the short stories A Possibility of Evil by Shirley Jackson and A Rose for Emily by
William Faulkner arrogance is a constant problem showed by the main characters. Both
have similar characteristics on how the authors use Adela Strangeworth and Emily
Grierson to portray this nobility to the readers. These two pieces of writing were
published in the mid 1900 s in the Victorian Era. This pairing of these stories bring out
the way arrogance is treated by a gap between the older and new generation, main
characters holding themselves higher, and Both pieces of fictiondisplay a feud between
the older and younger generation, which is a characteristic of southern gothic writing.
The settings are held in an extremely primitive victorian era. In A Rose for Emily Miss
Emily is seen as a duty (Line 9) to her small town. As a result of this established rule
Colonel Sartoris remitted her taxes (Line 13) to help with her father s death. However
when the next generation [...] became mayors and alderman (line 22 24) they had more
modernistic views than the Colonel, part of the old generation, had previously had. To
them this arrangement created some little dissatisfaction (Line 24 25). This rivalry built
a riff between the two age groups, and this is also present in A Possibility of Evil .
Adela Strangeworth gets intimidated when a baby girl s parents call her a princess, (Line
60). Adela holds herself above everyone in the town that she often thought belonged to
Effects Of Teen Pregnancy On Teenage Pregnancy
Teen childbearing is associated with negative consequences for the adolescent parents,
their children, and society, (The Office of Adolescent Health, U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services). Teenage females associated with childbearing expose themselves
to many risks and negative effects that can affect their future. Females result with many
consequences due to teenage pregnancy. This paper will strictly focus on the effects
females experience through teenage pregnancy. The reader will be able to develop an
overall understanding of the causes of teen pregnancy. Also, the reader will be able to
distinguish the psychosocial effects on the girl during adolescent pregnancy. The reader
shall understand the risks of health complications females experience through
childbearing.
Teenage pregnancy could be defined as a teenage female between the ages of 13 19,
who becomes pregnant. Despite the fact that it is not inevitable, some life circumstances
place adolescent girls at higher risk of becoming a teenage mother. Poverty has a strong
correlation with adolescent pregnancy. Other circumstances that could influence the
adolescent would be, living in single parent household, and having a mother that was
teenage mother. They are several indicators of why sexual intercourse occurs during the
adolescent years. Some examples would be early pubertal advancement, sexual abuse,
poverty, the absence of supporting parents, a lack of education from poor school
performance.

The Strength Of Paikea In The Film Whale Rider
Good morning/afternoon Mr Tabueto and students.

Today I will talk about the strength of Paikea, the young female protagonist of the movie
Whale Rider . I am going to start at the end film where Paikea, or Pai as she is known,
has just saved her ancestral tribe. As the tribal war canoe is being pushed out to the seas,
Pai says in voice over: I am not a prophet but I know our people will keep going forward
with ALL of our strength. These powerful words come from an 11 year old who has
spent her life trying to be accepted as the rightful leader of a male dominated tribe,
despite being born a girl.

Paikea was a counter stereotype since birth. When her father named her Paikea after her
tribal ancestor who, after his boat capsized, rode ... Show more content on

symbolic in showing that she no longer needed her grandfather to ride with her on the

and strength.

Another key scene is when Pai dives to the bottom of the sea to collect the whale tooth
that Koro threw into the water for the boys to collect, but none could find. The camera
zoomed in on Koro s face and somber music played to reflect his disappointment with
the boys. Later in the movie, Pai goes out in a boat with her uncle and after a long time
underwater, she returns with triumphant not only the necklace but also a lobster for
Koro s diner. The camera zoomed on Pai s smiling face as she playfully tossed the
lobster and whale tooth into the back of the
Similarities Between India And Greeta Dynasties
India s dynasties were so different from China s and Persia s dynasties. India was a lot
more culturally diverse, and their ruling revolved around their culture and religious
tradition. The Mauryan and Gupta dynasties both got their structure and foundations
from the Persian empire and their leaders. Darius established Achaemenid rule and
administration in India, and then Alexander the Great came and stayed for a short time,
and then left. Though Alexander the Great did not leave an impression on them, he
started a power vacuum, which Chandragupta filled, and started the Mauryan empire. He
continued to use the Persian technique of administration and he laid the foundation of
centralized rule, the first on to do that in India. Chandragupta did this by first taking
control of the small provinces of Magadhaand working his way to the center of India. In
fourth century BCE, the empire stretched all the way from Indus to Ganges River in
North India. Chandragupta s advisor Kautalya, who helped him write a book called
the Arthashastra, it was a book about the procedures on how to rule the Mauryan
empire. The AP book refers to it as ways of managing the empire. It goes over things
like trade, agriculture, collecting taxes, keeping order, conducting foreign relations, and
conducting war. The handout, Intermittent Empire: The Case of India, refers to it as a
political ideology for Mauryan rulers, and how a king must go to drastic measures
sometimes to make sure all is well. It does
Blue Collar Vs White Collar Workers
There are so many people in this world that are not aware of the term blue collar, and
white collar worker. It you are one of the ninth percent of Americans currently

In The Time Of The Butterflies Gender Analysis
.
I have noticed several influences in In the Time of the Butterflies, primarily gender
inequalities and political tensions. Alvarez also does a great job incorporating the
Dominican Republic s traditions and religion. Unfortunately, this article did not have
much relating to the politics in this novel s time period, but did mention quite a few
examples of gender inequality. The first sign of gender inequality I saw in this novel
was rather subtle, a car slowed, and the boys inside called out compliments. Sister
scowled fiercely at them... and based on the Sister s response to this, I believe catcalls
would be a better term instead of compliments (Alvarez, 27). The article transitioned to
family and mentioned that children stayed in their
My Landslide Poem Meaning
The song Landslide performed by Fleetwood Mac has been a piece of my life for as
long as I can remember. I recall my sisters and I sitting at our kitchen table in Orlando
reciting the words to the song as easily as reading a book. Once we moved to
Connecticut, this song still stayed apart of our lives and I have continued to listen to
this song consistently to this day. Over the years, the meaning of the song has adapted
to what I was going on to in life. As I grew older, the song gained more meaning than
when I would listen to it as child. When I was younger, around the age of five, the song
did not have much meaning to me. It was simply another song with a catchy melody. I
truly did not understand the point the artist was attempting to get across to the listener
through the metaphors in the lyrics. The meaning behind it was alien to me. I would sing
the words, but the significance behind the words I sang rung blank in my brain.... Show

I was scared and did not know what to expect for this next step in my life. At this time,
I was incredibly insecure. My older sisters and brother always told me that freshman
year was when things begin to change. You may make new friends, you may lose
friends, you may get good grades, and you may get bad grades. They reminded me that
our high school was three times as big as the middle school. With that, they also told
me that I may get overwhelmed but was nothing I could do about it and I had to go no
matter what. In the song, the songwriter questions her ability to handle the next part of
her life. She asks herself if she can handle whatever life has to throw at her even if it does
get hard. This part of the song really spoke to me. It showed me that everyone is

Virtual Schooling For K 12
Virtual School Consultant Project
Virtual schooling for K 12 is the biggest trend in education today and is focus on
supplemental and blended learning environments that happens in conjunction with face
to face learning. According to the September 2011 Issue Brief on Virtual Charter Schools
blended learning is the focal point of innovation and experienced the most significant
growth in virtual schools. Students gravitation to fully online learning, at this time, is
limited; consequently, supplemental or fulltime programs are the most common schools
in Maryland and was the basis of this recommendation (Babour, n.d.).
XYZ is a district school in Maryland and has experienced a declining dropout rate based
on an Annie Casey Foundation Study (2014), and as a result employed the services of a
consultant to create a virtual school that offers supplemental programs through a virtual
learning environment. The program/ school offering student service similar to Obridge in
Massachusetts. The areas the consultant explored included policy, structure, funding,
course development, and possible barriers.
Policy
Policy standards are essential in regulating and ensuring that students thrive in the K 12
virtual classroom, in college, and in his/her career choice; therefore, our educational
system must continuously develop and embrace the very best practices, policies, and
ideas and the State regulating agency must implement policies that are comprehensive

Oprah Winfrey is a Hero
What do you think of when you think of a hero? According to the Oxford dictionary, a
hero is a person who is admired for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble
qualities. Heroes are especially popular in Greek myths and legends. Most showed
generous behavior, even if it was not obvious until the lesson was learned. Oprah Winfrey
is one of the most generous people of our time. I believe Oprah Winfrey is a hero
because she uses her past experiences to inform, support, and help others, uses her
money, fame, and time to help people, and shows incredible emotional and spiritual
strength. Oprah Gail Winfrey grew up in a small farming community. A nineteen year
old male cousin raped her when she was nine. She was molested by a family friend and
an uncle until she was fourteen. She became pregnant and gave birth to a baby that
died soon after. She then went to live with her father. She blamed herself for these
incidents and it took her many years to realize it was not her fault. Winfrey told her
history of sexual abuse on air when one of her guests told her story. Later, eight
hundred viewers called in with their stories and to receive referrals to counseling.
Oprah had even decided to commit suicide in September 1981. She later felt that she
was not really serious about taking her life, but she had even written a note to her friend,
Gayle King Bumpus. Her passion and commitment on the issue of sexual abuse came
from her own childhood experience, but she had not allowed her

Importance Of The Scottsboro Boys In To Kill A Mockingbird
The Scottsboro Boys are an important part of the novel To Kill a Mockingbird. The
most important facts in the arrest and accusations of the Scottsboro Boys are when the
boys were first arrested for assault after the fight broke out on a train, Victoria Price, a
white woman that had been involved in the fight, had accused six of the boys of gang
raping her, and that the law concluded that the other boys had to have been involved, and
Ruby Bates, the other white woman entangled in the fight on the train, was presumably
raped also. Once the fight broke out, most of the white boys on the train were thrown off.
Which lead the black boys being detained in Paint Rock, Alabama for assault and taken to
Scottsboro, Alabama. Once they had begun the trial,
Transgenders In America
Being a transgender person in today s society is one of the major issues facing America
today. Through education, people will hopefully develop a better understanding of what
it means to be a transgender, and realize that they deserve fair and equal treatment in our
society.

Transgenders are people that feel more comfortable identifying with, and acting as, the
gender opposite of their own. This includes behaving, dressing, and even thinking like the
opposite sex. Bruce/Kaitlyn Jenner is a well known example that has brought the
transgender issue to the country.

Another form of a transgender person is a transsexual. A transsexual is a transgender

who has taken medical steps such as hormone therapy, or even surgery, to change their
physical appearance. Men can take female hormones like estrogen to develop female

Recently North Carolina has passed a law that states that in government buildings,
transgenders must use the bathroom of their original sex. North Carolina has taken the
view that grown men should not be allowed into women s restrooms.

This, however, creates a difficult situation for the transgender. For example, a male
transgender dressed as a female, could possibly pass for a female and go unnoticed as
a male. However, when forced to use the male restroom, he is immediately identified as
a transgender. At best they would made fun of, and at worst they could possibly be in a
life threatening situation. The movie Boys Don t Cry told the true story of a transgender

1) Competitive Rivalry within the Industry Extremely High
The level of competition in the sector of athletic shoes, apparel and equipment is
extremely high between two primary businesses in this category and that is Adidas and
Nike. Other shoe businesses also are fighting to take a pieces of the market with new
products and promotions these companies include for athletic shoes brands such as
Reebok, Puma, Under Armour, Converse, Vans, New Balance, Fila, Asics, Keds, Geox,
Rockport, Ecko and for clothing brands new competitors such as Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph
Lauren, Nautica and the Gap. All of these emerging brands with some of them having
their own customer bases or brand loyalty do threaten Nike s control of the largest
segment of the market. It is not so much the price of the shoes but the branding that
drives the market. So if the brand is popular than that is what the customer is looking for
more than price. Much of this threat to Nikes branding is from changing customer
preferences for what brand of sports shoes that they want.
To compete within this market a constant string of creative new invention using newer
technology to appeal to the consumer has to take place. Nike fortunately has such brand
recognition and customer loyalty along with numerous patents on materials and designs
that they can continue to hold onto the lead and seem to continue to grow into other
market segments using brand line extensions as well. They
Argumentative Essay On Mental Illness
A mental illness is commonly known as any disorder that affects the mood, behavior,
and overall mindset of an individual. Often, these effects can be almost invisible to the
person, or they can take up the person s whole life. Distractions, compulsions, fears,
and whatever else keeps the individual s mind racing can take up to a lifetime to cope
with, and may not ever heal with treatment (as mental illness cannot be cured). Mental
illness can also be a distortion to the mind, making the mind believe something, or
someone that is not real is present to the person with the distortion. This leads to the
other side of mental illness that entertainment portrays yellow padded rooms, belted
straitjackets and muzzles, and numerous amounts of screaming. Mental illnesses are not
all like these portrayals, but there are indeed mental institutions in the United Stated
and around the world that remain very active. Psychiatric hospitals are a brighter, more
common term for these places. Their main purpose of them is to house people who
have been diagnosed with mental illness and are not fit at that moment to be left by
themselves or with others around them. They would stay there, see their own
counselors, and receive plans based on their inpatient behavior. Usually, many are
released after a month or two, and seldom stay forever. However, it is after their
discharge when they are in trouble. They are back in the world, but there is one problem:

Sight Word Bingo Game Analysis

Before starting the game of Bingo, the teacher reviewed some of the trickier sight
words such as funny and play. Then the teacher instructed the students to do their best
to search for the word. It was evident they were familiar with the game because they set
aside bingo chips and were prepared to play. As the game began, the children were
excited, but were able to keep up to find each word called. After about two or three
rounds, a student called out, BINGO! If a student won a round they flipped their card
around and played another round with different words. This was an effective way to
have the students who have already won, still play the game. The game s purpose was
to review and implement new sight words that the students were expected to know such
as the word that `. When a student called out BINGO, they needed to read their words

V For Vendetta Symbolism Essay
The Power in a Symbol Symbols are used to signify values and ideas, carrying meaning
beyond that which appears to be described. Political symbols, in particular, represent
the ideals that define a society, and as such, are compelling forces. Some such symbols
can be used to instill fear in people and subdue them to allow corrupt regimes to
continue to asserting their dominance in a society and maintain control. In the face of
such injustice and oppression, other political symbols can, arguably, carry an even
greater value, as they can give strength to the marginalized, giving them an emblem under
which they can express their ideals. Simple objects can hold such power since the ideas
they symbolize are timeless, transcending a single... Show more content on

This allows the Norsefire regime to maintain its absolute, limitless power, with its
people coerced into conformity without the freedom to object or speak out. Further
evidence of the value of this symbol is that V s ruining of the man behind the voice is
what causes the totalitarian government to crumble. In the story, Prothero is driven to
insanity by V, and is unable to continue his role as the Voice of Fate. The lackluster
voice that replaces him results in the symbol being lost, and a seed of doubt about the
government is planted in the people of England. This is a critical event in the comic,
as it helps create the conditions for political revolt. This event exemplifies the influence
a symbol can have. Losing Prothero s convincing voice exposes the government s
human qualities, revealing that the government is flawed and truly not immortal. By
simply changing the voice that broadcasts the news a symbol of omnipotence and
invincibility is ruined, and the grounds are set for the government to be overthrown.
Furthermore, symbols can drive a society to bring about change by helping identify a
cause to work towards. As people lose their faith in the Norsefire regime, V begins
introducing symbols of his own to represent anarchy and rebellion against oppression.
Throughout the comic, V defaces government property by carving a V within a circle
after an act of resistance. This sign quickly becomes a symbol of rebellion against
injustice and

According to the third theory, Tax Preference Theory, capital gains are preferred over
dividends. Due to time value of money, a dollar paid in the future on taxes has a lower
cost than a dollar paid on taxes in the present. Capital gains typically have better tax
advantages than dividends which is why some investors prefer to invest in companies
that minimize dividends.
Based on the scatter plot, I would have to say that Haveloche has chosen a variety of
these different theories over the years since they have been paying dividends. When
the company needed to reinvest the money back into the company, they dividend was
lowered. When the company had plenty of extra cash lying around, the dividend
payout increased. Haveloche has been paying a dividend since its initial IPO, but those
dividends vary from year to year. One could argue that the dividend is guaranteed each
year based on past history, but the investor does not have a clue as to how what that
dividend will be based off of.
And if you take a look at the stock price from year to year, it widely fluctuates up and
down. Investors in this do not know from year to year if the company s patents are
going to strike it rich or if they are just going to be shelved. It being an R D company, it
is a risky company, which investors know prior to taking the plunge with investing their
hard earned money.

powered aircraft a mere twenty feet above the sandy shores of North Carolina. The
subsequent century expanded upon his success, innovating airplanes and developing a
booming industry founded upon air travel. It is thus valid to assume that, globally, we
as a civilization have changed how we live and experience the world as a result of the
airline industry we are able to settle, travel, and conduct business in places once deemed
remote and inaccessible, and our world is undoubtedly more interconnected. Traveling by
air has become a commonplace service, altering our perception of distance and
diminishing travel time, and the industry is continuously making efforts to improve and
advance. The Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 within the United States promulgated an
era of unencumbered competition within the market, opening the floodgates for newer
carriers with a variety of lower pricing structures to compete with formidable incumbents.
Numerous carriers consequently filed for bankruptcy, and many of the industry leads
consolidated their airlines to increase their power. Within the last twelve years alone, a
series of bankruptcies and mergers have resulted in ten major U.S. airlines consolidating
into four market dominating mega carriers: American, Delta, Southwest, and United.
