Buhangin District

Context and Rationale

Reading is a life-long process and it is a part of our daily lives. People read either for
entertainment and pleasure or for acquisition of knowledge and information. In the teaching
learning process, reading plays a vital role to learners. If learner do not have the reading skills, it
will be difficult for them to comprehend ideas and concepts.

Action Research Question

This research aims to answer the following questions:

(a) What teaching strategies can be applied in using cvc word to improve the reading of
grade one Anthurium?
(b) How effective reading CVC Word in reducing the numbers of readers in frustration
reading level?
(c) What is the impact of CVC Word wheels to the reading skills of the grade one
Anthurium ?

Proposed Innovations, Intervention and Strategy

As an intervention to the merging problem of the alarming numbers of learners in frustration
level, this study will utilize CVC Word Wheels on reading skills.

According to (Hulme & Snowling, 2011, p. 139) “Reading is critical because a great deal of
formal education depends upon being able to read with understanding. Reading difficulties will
inevitably create educational difficulties, which in turn, are a major source of economic and
social disadvantages”.

In this study, data were analyzed to determine the impact of CVC word Wheels to my class
Grade I- Anthurium, and had on students in terms of attaining grade-level proficiency standards.

Action Research Methods

A. Participants and Other Sources of Data and Information

For this study, participants are 41 pupils and 41 parents from my own class of Grade I-
Anthurium of Cabantian Elementary School. The use of internet will be the avenue for
the other sources of data and information.

B. Data Gathering Methods

A set of online surveys and interviews was used for gathering data and as baseline for this
study. Qualitative research allows the researcher to have an in depth interview with the
parents, conduct feed backing and track the progress of the study.

C. Data Analysis Plan

Quantitative and Qualitative Data Analysis was used to evaluate the progress of the
study.
