NHS Compliance Essay
Between the years 2005 and 2008, the conditions of the appalling care managed to
flourish in the main hospital that was serving the people of Stafford the surrounding
regions. During this time, this hospital was under the management of the by a Board
which had succeeded in leading its trust to the foundation trust status. This board had
replaced its predecessors because of a number of concerns about how this board managed
the hospital. Before the foundation trust was allowed to work, it was first scrutinized
by the local Strategic Health Authority as well as the Department of Health. The
results were that the foundation trust appeared to be compliant with the applicable
standards which were being regulated by the Healthcare Commission (Healey
Lesneski, 2011). This new system was even rated by the NHS Litigation Authority for
any risks which it might be having. The local group as well as the publics that
scrutinized it failed to notice any problem with it. There were systemic failings that
were reported. What shocked in the end was the fact that it was found that the system
had some failures. Complains were being recorded by some patients and those who are
close to them. People wanted to know why they have been failed so much (Espinoza,
Ukleja Rusch, 2010).

Job descriptions and the performance reviews should always clearly include the
collaboration leadership responsibilities and the lines of the accountability. When
critically analyzed, it can be seen that there was very little collaboration that was
witnessed in the NHS. Collaborative leadership is always necessary for good results to
be produced in a work place. The collaborative effort which is depicted in the work place

Beveridge Report On The Welfare State
This essay will discuss the key points of the Beveridge report (1942), and evaluate the
significance of the report on the welfare state. In November 1942, William Beveridge
presented a report called, Social Insurance and Allied Services to parliament. This was a
summary of principles to improve upon the existing welfarebenefits system, to benefit
working people and the population. The document proposed a new system to be
operated by one governing agency, called Social Security. This would be put in place by
the state after World War 2 had ended. Overall Beveridge created the most revolutionary
document in our history. Beveridge has played a significant role in evolving the Welfare
Stateover the decades. (Robinson, 2003).

Administration The Social Insurance scheme would need to make big changes to the
administration process for this scheme to run smoothly and be successful. Beveridge
wanted every worker to obtain one insurance document weekly, rather than two. He
saw this as an opportunity for the new system to be under one governing agency called
The Ministry of Social Security. The new system also implemented classes to the
National Insurance scheme, such as: Class I for employees: Class II for Employers,
traders, self employed and any other independent workers: Class III Housewives (this has
now been amended for all people of working age, who have had a break in employment,
or earn too little for it to be recorded): Class IV Others of working age or not working
(self employed).

The National Insurance scheme is still in force today, some changes have since been
made to the insurance classes, but it still has the same point. The class you pay depends
on your employment status and how much you earn, and whether you have any gaps in
your National Insurance record. A great way to make the National Insurance more
functional was changing the original two piece document just to one. Over 20 million
people received these documents, so in essence this saved time, money and paperwork.
Beveridge s overall goal was to set in motion a strong Social Insurance Scheme that was
functional and up to date, benefiting all involved to make the
Puritans Values
When the first wave of European immigrants faced the hardships of the voyage across the
tumultuous Atlantic Ocean, these English Puritans had hopes of a future free from the
harsh persecutions and injustices they were subjected to in 17th century England.
Puritans values were documented in the writings of such immigrants such as A Model of
Christian Charity , written by John Winthrop while aboard the Arabella in 1630, and The
MayflowerCompact , a constitution like document drafted and signed by the men on
board The Mayflower in 1620. In the former, Winthrop emphasized the significance of
maintaining unity under God and sharing in the struggles of one another so that the
burdens and hardships of one are those of the community as well as the Puritans
arrived in the New World. Similarly, The Mayflower Compact encouraged unity and
equality through the formation of a civil political body to enact governing laws and
constitutions that would uphold their societal and religious values to promote equality
and justice for all. Despite such principles that the Pilgrims believed they were
instating during the formation of the New World, I believe these values were quickly
distorted, leading to a biased and prejudiced society that prevails today. Through the
analysis of the history of early America, it is evident to me that though the Puritans left
England as the persecuted and claimed to aspire to a just society, they arrived in the
New World as persecutors of those whose beliefs
Understanding Black Holes Essay
Like the boundaries on earth, mankind has always looked to the sky in awe for it
seemed boundless in its ever growing horizon. Out of all the cosmos that s being found
and discovered every day, there is one object that stands to elude scientists still, the black
hole. Albert Einstein, and all the brilliant scientists after his, help to design and create a
part of the universe that s very crucial to understanding existence. The perimeters of a
black holehave been a great this that has been discussed and observed to the point where
it eventually becomes clear as its compared to objects around or like it. The physics of
the black holes existence is still unclear for it shows properties that support Einstein s
theory and quantum mechanics,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Clegg, Brian)
Karl Schwarzschild found a solution to Einstein s theory, if enough matter was
packed in to a small region of space, he said, it should have a strong enough
gravitational field that even light couldn t escape it. Roy Kerr stated that the bigger
the star, the greater the drag on the space time around it. But later his equations were
looked at again and it was shown that this theory would be applied to black holes.
1971, an x ray satellite, Uhuru, had spotted a flicking that was shown by a binary star
system of a white supergiant and a black hole. The black hole was taking the gas that
was being emitted by the white supergiant and while the gas spiraled in to it, spurts of
gas were ripped from the faster then the speed of light. Stephen Hawking shows that
black holes may not be black: they may emit a form of radiation that will eventually
cause them to evaporate. (Black Hole Encyclopedia yr. 1974) this type of radiation was
coined as hawking radiation, for it stated that when hawking particles were near the
event horizon, the negatively charged side would fall in while the positive flew out,
making the firewall paradox. (Black hole Encyclopedia)
The problem with the black hole is the understanding of where does the information go
after it s eaten, thus, the information paradox. The firewall paradox is one of the two
that should happen, but don t. The process of the firewall is when a
Spinal Stenosis Research Paper
Introduction

Today, in the United States back pain affects more than 80% of people in the U.S. at a
cost of more than $100 billion a year. Back pain can lead to many emotions from those
suffering, chronic pain leads to anger, immobility, depression, and other crippling
effects. While the causes from back pain range from far and between, the purpose of this
research paper will tell the story of Spinal Stenosis and its effect on many Americans
today. Through this paper, the reader will learn Spinal Stenosis background information,
etiology, symptoms, how to properly be diagnosed, the clinical appearance, treatments,
outcomes, the economic impacts, and finally information on the quality of life for
someone who has been diagnosed with Spinal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A basic definition of etiology can be said as, The cause, set of causes, or manner of
causation of a disease or condition (...). Over time, Doctors have been able to pinpoint
some simple causes, and risks that increase a person s chances of suffering from
stenosis. One of the biggest causes of Spinal Stenosis is osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is
the most common form of arthritis. It is wearing down of the protective tissue at the
ends of bones (cartilage) occurs gradually and worsens over time (...). The next
question one might ask is, what does osteoarthritis have to do with spinal stenosis.
The answer is, osteoarthritis causes disk changes, the ligaments of the spine to
thicken, and can lead to bone spurs. Which in turn puts pressure on the spinal cord and
nerves (...). Another leading cause is herniated disks. A herniated disk is a condition
where the rubbery section between the spinal cord begins to bulge or slip (...). Which
in turns puts pressure on the spinal nerves and induces narrowing. Injuries to the spine
is another cause for spinal stenosis. Injuring the spine can lead to damages to the
vertebras. Another cause for spinal stenosis is Paget s Disease. More than two
hundred thousand people in the United States is diagnosed with this disease annually.
Paget s Disease is a condition where your bone grows abnormally large and brittle;
which results in the narrowing of the spinal canal and nerve problems (...). A few more
causes of spinal stenosis that is not physical is age and genetics. As a person age their
bones change too. Also, if someone in a person s family has spinal stenosis they can also
pass it down to their children, depending upon

Social Media And Traditional Media
Traditional media has failed to live up to its fourth estate role. This has lead us to the
question, can the more modern, social media, make up for the lack of success that
traditional media has had in fulfilling this watchdog role for the people? Kemp s rules
of CIDRA1 apply to social media as they do with traditional media. Thus, we must
determine what, if any, obstacles are present in preventing social media from
completing this role. More specifically, do the five filters that Chomsky highlights apply
to social media as they do to traditional media? Or does the fundamental structure of
social media allow for it to accomplish a fifth estaterole? I argue that social media is
more effective at playing a watchdog role than traditional media. Social media is built on
a platform that has the interest of working for the people in terms of freedom of
distributing ideas and checking elitepower in liberal democracies. Furthermore,
...traditional media formats are no longer the only politically relevant forms of media
(Metzgar, Maruggi, 2009, p. 149). The reason that social media can have higher success
in acting as a watchdog role stems from one central theme: when it comes to social
media, less of Chomsky s filters lie between the person wanting to distribute an idea and
the ability to have this idea delivered to the public.
We must understand the foundation of social media, and determine if it can meet the
standards brought by Kemp. This, along with determining if Chomsky s
Students Should Not Required A College Of Their Choice
As time passes the majority of undocumented students graduate high school and head to
the next level of their education, but the majority of these students fear on applying the
college of their choice. Furthermore, colleges in the United States does not allow an
undocumented student to fulfill his or her hopes of continuing education. This initially
leads students to give up pursuing their education to work at places that do not require a
degree. In few cases, some students are given the chance to study at a college, but most
students can not afford to pay the classes. (Nothing is free for the students unless they are
documented in the United States. Something acquired throughout the years that the
student had an opportunity to continue their studies) (I m lost). The government passed
an act called the Dream Act , which allow students to apply to any college of their
choice. There is a catch, the government will not give financial aid and not allowed a
student to loans. This is a challenge for students because the majority of them wonder
how can they for that price. Although many students apply for jobs it s still not enough
to pay for the tuition. However, students realize that it is time to make a stand and make
a statement, they should be allowed to have financial aid. As of right now, students are
protesting, creating a march, and doing action in their own political ways.
